I preach baptism in Jesus' name as the cure of all assurance issues. Acts of the Apostles 2:38-39 is an absolute promise for all those who fulfill the condition of the promise.

Actually, when a person is convicted of sin, that is the moment when they are called upon to be baptized if the minister is ministering properly. It seals the deal of repentance in that person's life.

Of course, my pov is that baptism in Jesus' name serves as a point of contact for our faith; and that it has saving power: not necessarily that one cannot be saved without it.
