Why am I not a Christian?

And what of Satan? What's his role in all this? Does he truly just wish to take as many human souls with him as possible? Why do you think he rebelled against God? Possibly. However, if they're not one in the same, then why do so many Christians say that Jesus is God, as if they are one in the...

Why am I not a Christian?

Well...agnostic atheist, perhaps. Full on atheism is a little too hardcore for me. Turn the other cheek? Love thy neighbor? The God of the OT was a little more like the Viking god Odin than gentle Jesus, meek and mild. I'm not saying they aren't one in the same, but I do think they have...

Why am I not a Christian?

That's fair point. You very well could be right about that. But he has all of these human traits. Fits of rage, jealousy, etc...

Why am I not a Christian?

I've refused to believe that specific aspect of God's character. It seems man made to me. The reason Islam is so violent is because it's central figure was a warlord. The God of the OT is very warlike. Jesus however, is much more kind and compassionate to the imperfect humans.

Why am I not a Christian?

If there is a God, I refuse to believe he is anything like what we read in the bible. Especially the Old Testament. Commanding the Israelites to dash the babies heads against the rocks, among other things.

Why am I not a Christian?

No. This is exactly the problem. This right here is why there is so much misunderstanding between Christians and everyone else. You think that we know that it's truth like you do, but that we simply choose to deny it. But that is not so. We are physically incapable of believing it. That's why I...

Why am I not a Christian?

You're right. When I get the time, I will read it. Because you never know. Sometimes things just sneak up on you. Lol. Of course not. The downside is that you no longer have any agency or awareness. The upside is that you aren't aware of this fact. I want God to respect my agency. I'm not a...

Why am I not a Christian?

Why? He's God. He can't forgive people for the crime of not being able to believe something? Yeah, but people aren't rebelling. They simply cannot make themselves believe something. They can't help it. It's like punishing a paraplegic for not walking.

Why am I not a Christian?

It is horrible if it's true. It's horrible that God would do such a thing when it isn't necessary. Why can't he just... not throw them into the lake of fire? :confused

Why am I not a Christian?

No, I haven't. I meant that I would no longer have to worry about existence, whether or not Christianity is true, etc. Ombs of the perks of non-existence is no longer having to be concerned about anything. No, I don't want to be destroyed. I'd tell him that I couldn't force myself to believe...

Why am I not a Christian?

Assuming they are with me, I imagine they would be just as irritated by the situation as I. It wouldn't be like a stroll in the park. No. I'd ask him why he feels it necessary to destroy me for simply not being able to believe in something. I can't force myself to believe anything. So that...

Why am I not a Christian?

Jesus said he and the farther are one. So when I say God, I also include Jesus. I would be afraid, of course. I would be angry, primarily because a divine being should be able to do better. I don't think I would have any regrets. In the circumstance, I'm certain that I would still hold the view...

Why am I not a Christian?

God's the boss. So I'd say he's probably in charge. Nothing. You said I'll be destroyed, remember? Pool service. Why?

Why am I not a Christian?

It matters, but I can't control what happens to anyone in the hereafter. No. The majority of my family aren't believers. So I won't be alone.

Why am I not a Christian?

Why would it matter? People make their choices. I have family members that believe and some that don't. In the end, I think all we really have is ourselves and the choices we've made.

Why am I not a Christian?

    Yeah, of course.

    The Iran situation

Hegseth gives it to the enemy of the people.

Why am I not a Christian?

But why would people care about purpose after death? What I'm trying to say is, life is tough. We go through so much here. One would assume that people would prefer to have a long rest afterwards. Big instead it seems they would prefer to just continue on literally forever. Part of me just...

Why am I not a Christian?

That's an interesting take. Why do you think people want to live forever? You'd think after seventy or more some odd years, people would prefer to be blissfully unaware for a change.

Why am I not a Christian?

@Matthias if you're correct about everyone remaining dead until the return of the Messiah, wouldn't that mean that unbelief could be a viable option for those that don't want to live forever?
