I think that can apply to people who do not consciously reject Jesus. I know atheists who are morally good, and help their neighbours, but they call Jesus a myth and say the atonement is silly nonsense. I would say they have crossed the line if they do not repent.

No, it is a part of the Christian reality.

You still have to confront the fact that Jesus used His power to strike the men to the ground in an act of physical violence. I conclude that we ought not to think imitating Jesus means we have the same power as Him. What He did by spiritual means, we need to do by physical means.

Jesus had divine power that we do not. He used physical violence to protect His disciples when He made the men who had come to arrest Him, fall to the ground. (John 18:6) Do you think you can do what Jesus did to the men in the Garden?

It should be considered a sin if we could prevent innocent people from being harmed or killed and fail to intervene. Who has the greater sin ... an insane person who is gunning down children or the one who refuses to take any action to stop him and says "wait for the police"?

We cannot judge the final outcome for anyone, but if a person who does many good works consciously rejects faith in Jesus' atonement for sin, I do not see how such a person could enter God's kingdom.
