Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

I am very glad you posted this. Matthew 19 never set right with me, and now I know why. And Matthew 5:32 didn't change the meaning of Matthew 19 either.

Me too now that we cleared up the verse in Matthew. I don't believe in remarriage after divorce either; it must be a death. I've been divorced twice so that's another reason I don't want to date.

Never mind, it is not adultery.

So what is the word Jesus used?

Yep, that's what Jesus said. The question remains of WHEN. Did she commit fornication before the marriage, or after. But I'm still not dating. LOL

I thought that was Mark, but it wasn't. Please provide the verse and version.

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

That is perfectly normal. And, yes, I am in love with God.

Thanks. I shouldn't have married him in the first place. I could feel a check in my spirit for the whole week before the ceremony. Then afterward, God used it to bring me to a new level of obedience to a time when I said to God that I would not divorce him, even if he killed me. (he was abusive)...

The error in the Church doctrine is WHEN was the sexual immorality. The Scriptures say BEFORE marriage, rather than DURING marriage.

No, I am agreeing with the OP. Because of knowing the Old Testament laws in Deut. 22 and 24, there was always something mismatched in church doctrine that didn't ring true especially regarding remarriage. But the OP connected Matt. 19 with Deut. brilliantly. Thank you, @St. SteVen BP, have you...

@St. SteVen I edited the above.

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

In Matthew 19 Jesus was explaining what the Law meant, and that would have been Deut. 22 and 24 that talks of a virgin bride and proof. If she claimed to be a virgin but wasn't, he could become a widower, and she would be stoned to death. Or divorce her and just send her out of his house with a...

When I read your OP my spirit agreed with it as truth. I'm just surprised I didn't think of it myself! :Broadly:

I left it up to God and I know who my Husband is now. Isa. 54:5 " For your Maker is your husband, The Lord of hosts is His name What church teaching.

They think because we are not under the "Law" that means the whole Law, when it was only the Covenant that we are not under, the Ten Commandments. Ex. 34:28. But it is still unlawful to marry your sibling.

Did Jesus say that adultery is grounds for divorce? - Nope.

Seeing as my Christian husband divorced me without cause, and married the wife of his best friend, I studied what God had to say about divorce in Deuteronomy. He is still the last man I kissed back in 2001.

Not many people on the forums care whether they sin or not. And there are not very many adult virgins.
