Good points. Good to pray before studying the Word; this is an acknowledgment that we need light from the Holy Spirit in order truly to understand the Word properly.

@Heart2Soul Contextual reading is important, indeed. Sometimes ppl reel off quotes of individual verses - which can be good - but where in a passage they occur is also significant.
