Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

GodsGrace, Being a former RC, you are probably aware that there are denominations within the RCC. For example: Catholic Christians are mostly "Roman Catholic"; yet some groups still call themselves "Catholic," but are no longer united with Rome. The "Old Catholic Church" broke away in 1870...

Rollo, However, it's faith founded on the facts of Jesus' death, burial & resurrection. 'With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God's grace was so powerfully at work in them all' (Acts 4:33 NIV). Oz

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Let's talk about the existence of Nazareth in Galilee in the first century at the time of Jesus: James F. Strange, an American archaeologist, notes: "Nazareth is not mentioned in ancient Jewish sources earlier than the third century CE. This likely reflects its lack of prominence both in...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

bb, Here are some unchangeable doctrines: The sovereignty of God The omnipresence of God The omnipotence of God The foreknowledge of God The salvation of God The hypostatic union (i.e. Jesus was the God-man) The Trinity Jesus' atonement etc. Bible Study Tools explains 'doctrine': In...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Jesus existed, lived his life in first century Israel, died on the cross, was buried, and rose again.

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

I'll be happy to respond where I have the time. I'm writing an apologetics' based curriculum for religious instruction in early high school (grades 7-8) - you'd call it Junior High. I plan to teach this one hour a week in secular high schools. In addition, I have to turn a 488pp PhD...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

There's slightly more to the understanding of Jesus as the Son of Man than that he was a human being: See: What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of Man? See also: If Jesus was the Son of God, why did He call Himself the Son of Man? And another:Why Did Jesus Call Himself the Son of Man? Oz

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

pia, You speak about a face-to-face encounter you had with Jesus. I have no idea of knowing which Jesus this is. Could it be another spirit? This is the problem with experience/existentialism. It's up to the individual to try to interpret what happened. That's why I'd trust the Bible any day...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

I KNOW that the Bible teaches things quite different to your belief that Jesus doesn't need a Bible to teach anyone. This is what Scripture teaches: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be...

I don't know who they are. Why don't you forward the link to those you know who do not believe infants and children go to heaven at death. Over to you.

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Your response here is to my writing this: Ps 58:6, in speaking of the wicked who are estranged from the womb, 'O God, break the teeth in their mouths' (ESV). Teeth from birth! That's a new one on me. Therefore, taking things literally when poetic language is used is dangerous interpretation...

That avoids the issue of interpretation. The Mormons, JWs, Muslims and Buddhists believe in the 'Jesus who is' but their interpretations are not those like yours or mine.

pia, I also believe that babies and children go to heaven when they die at a young age. However, I didn't get that teaching from a face-to-face encounter with Jesus, but from the Bible. I have written about the biblical teaching in, Children and Heaven. Oz

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Of Ps 51:5, Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges 5. Behold, I was shapen] Better, Behold, I was born. Acts of sin have their root in the inherited sinfulness of mankind. It does not appear, as some have thought, that the Psalmist pleads the sinifulness of his nature as an excuse for his...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

I have 3 children. They sure knew how to commit sin at a very early age with their temper tantrums and selfishness, especially when another child was born. I'm very happy to face Jesus with the understanding that all people are sinners from conception. That's what his Bible teaches. I have not...

Jesus is a human being but not the one true God

Where have I stated or inferred that? Nowhere! Therefore your questions here commit a strawman fallacy. It is erroneous reasoning. Which Jesus? The Mormon Jesus? The JWs' Jesus? Islam's Jesus? 'Jesus told them, “Don’t let anyone mislead you, for many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the...
