God's Righteousness ...that is God's Grace..... is the ROOT and it produces Holiness as the Fruit. Christians always try to DO Holiness and can't, and that is because Holiness is to "bear the fruit" of being made Righteous. God's GRACE is the ROOT, and Holiness is the Fruit.

Its obvious that "knowledge of Him" is not how we are saved or given "imputed righteosness". See, knowing about God, or even acknowledging God, is not what God requires of us, to give us "His Righteousness". Notice How Abraham received God's righteousness, as its the same way we receive it...

We are never to become self-righteous, as this rejects God's Gift of Righteousness. Self righteousness, is trying to make "self" right with God that that is impossible, as only the Sacrifice of Jesus on The Cross is accepted by God on our behalf as the only way He accepts us and keeps us.

Acutually you have to receive Salvation first.......before you can "abide". So, this means that "The Gift of Righteousness" that is Salvaiton has to be received by Faith......initually, and then the believer now abides in Christ by being born again "in Christ".
