Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Of course it does. You just said it. "while trying to keep the Old Law." Where is that Law? In his MIND. It is NOT in his HEART. That is the difference between keeping the letter of the law that you know in your mind, and the Spirit of the law in your heart/conscience/nature. What is giving...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

It makes the chapter cohesive. First you have Romans 7:5-6 which is New Covenant, and NOT a slave to sin, so verse 24 is not out of place in this chapter, and the 25th verse is the conclusion of 14-23, 25, with a new start in Roman 8:1, or could continue right after verse 6. The "Therefore" of...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

The first half of 25 is still the mind which is in both covenants. But in the old it was memorized commandments that were engraved on stone. So it belongs in 25 in the whole of it.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

I used to think 25 was separate from 14-23, but it is not. It is still talking about being in the flesh and not in the Spirit. Go back to Romans 7:5-6 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now...

Sinning with purpose is sinning with pleasure

I'm not saying it is okay to get drunk, but it is only from experience that you know how much you can hold and not feel it. Its been a long time ago that I had been drunk - decades. This last birthday, my next door neighbor asked me to come over that night and share a bottle of red wine in the...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

No, it is the concluding verse of 14-25 about sin in our flesh that Jesus FREES US FROM. Our "human nature" is what is born again - our spirit and soul. "25 So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin." THAT is NOT a Christian. This is the major...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

The tense doesn't matter to someone with an Eastern mindset. (Hebrew) But it is one reason westerners get hung up. This is why context matters, and what the rest of the Bible says. Please answer more meaningful posts, not one about tense. After all Romans 8:2 is present tense freeing us from...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Romans 8:10 because of Adam's sin.

Sinning with purpose is sinning with pleasure

I think it would matter if it hurts someone else, or just yourself. Personally I don't have it in me to willfully hurt someone else, but I may drink one too many glasses of wine, but not out in public. And then wait about a year for another glass. LOL Thank goodness birthday's come only once a year.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Verse 25 is included. It is the conclusion on the Old Covenant 14-25. The next verse starts the New Covenant.

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Well, at least, you've given Paul some credit. So you are not relying on your own works, except that it is you that is ruling over your flesh. That's not logical, it is contradictory. And it is NOT THE GOSPEL. Post, you have a lot to unlearn. You've talked yourself into the lie that you have no...

Sinning with purpose is sinning with pleasure

The reason you do not find pleasure in sinning is because the Holy Spirit given to us super-sensitizes our conscience. To have any peace and be able to rest in Jesus is to simply obey your conscience. Jesus made it simple. "My yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

You are doing the opposite. You've rewritten the gospel. You are NOT giving Him credit for RECREATING YOU. You are treating Him like you are in charge, and He is making it right for you, approving you as a sinner by removing His laws to let you remain a sinner, instead of taking away the poison...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

THE FLESH is not our body! OUR FLESH is what is born again!!!! Our SPIRIT AND SOUL. They DIED AND RESURRECTED and are now immortal, and instead of sinful became righteous. ALL THAT IS LEFT TO DIE IS OUR BODY!!! Then it shall be changed ALSO and become immortal. That is what Romans 8:23 MEANS...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Romans chapters one through eight are a whole teaching. Chapter five out of context of the whole shows you that before the law sin was committed but not held against mankind. When the law came, now sin committed held us accountable. What is the common denominator? SIN WAS COMMITTED. But Paul...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

I just noticed a stumbling block of yours. You believe our bodies is what Paul is calling our "flesh." No Paul is calling our old sinful nature, "the flesh," not our bodies. Our body can't sin by itself. Our nature is the puppeteer, either making our body do evil or good. By not being in the...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Look at Romans 7:5 and tell me by that one scripture whether we are LOGICALLY in the flesh now or not. What does it mean to you? I'm focusing on you because I like you. I've always loved geniuses, because I am one, and so are my best friends. But don't let your doctrines hinder your intellect...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

Post, I like that you can calculate, but you are not obeying Logic 101. Context. You are rightly saying that sin is in the flesh. But you do not even consider Romans 8:9. We are NOT IN THE FLESH. Why? The difference between the time of the Law, Romans 7:14-25 and Jesus Romans 8:9 (8:1-9) is The...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

post believes it is the law that was taken away, not our sin, so that we can sin without condemnation. That is lawlessness and the opposite of truth. They are for those who love to sin, and can't see that sin is the problem, not the law! Those doctrines of demons are what I'm fighting against...

Speaking in tongues is NOT a gift

This self-will righteousness of you ruling over your flesh is NOT the gospel. The gospel is the power of God IN YOU to recreate your old nature into a new creature.. Surely you have read more than you doing everything yourself. It is Jesus that sets us free; you're relying on your own works to...
