Who is the Babylon of Revelation? (part 1)

I think most people are arrogantly believing nothing in the Bible could possibly have been written for anyone but US...… 2,000+ years off into the future.

    REVIVAL OR BUST.

The prophets of old, doing God's will, drew crowds. The ranters of today are only pleasing themselves by yelling into empty space.

    What distinguishes a "Protestant?"

And I think it will be those who simply follow Jesus and His love, who will not hear "I never knew you." After all, doesn't the Bible say all sorts of people will claiming adherence to one form of law or the other.... to no avail? "Didn't we do this, and didn't we do that?" He even told the...

It was Israel. (More specifically, Jerusalem.)

Why isn't the shroud of turin in the bible

Amadeus began telling you, way back in posts # 85 and 87... and continuing, that he does not — and never has — needed the miracles and artifacts you seem to need, that you want to keep on saying he also has to need. What more of an answer do you want?

How much ungodly behavior do you see in the church?

It was good. But, I saw no real path given.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

And I believe it was Peter that Paul had to "call out", sometime during the 50's or 60's, for ignoring the Gentile brothers, and catering to the visitors from Jerusalem by going to sit and eat with them. I believe that happened in Antioch (Gal 2:11-13) (Some people really do believe Peter was...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Uh, Paul wrote over half of his letters in the 60's. Chronology of Apostle Paul's Journeys and Epistles

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

I know you intended to give chapter and verse for that claim, but just forgot.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Peter even said that it was tough to figure out what the things Paul said and wrote meant.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Paul was writing a letter to Timothy, so he was addressing only those Scriptures that existed at the time.... especially since Paul told him to do that until such time as he arrived in his town. Letters the various Apostles wrote were not yet designated "Scripture" at that time.

Amadeus is probably one of the clearest people on this forum.

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

Copies of all those separate letters finally existed after probably decades. But they did not have stenographers at each church to make copies, nor Postal Service or e-mail to facilitate distribution. Shoot, it took more than three hundred years to finally collect enough to make a book called...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

I used to go to a very boring Bible Study where the leader had every one of about 20 men read, in turn. Only about four of us could capably read out loud, and it was total torture to sit and listen to the rest of them butchering the book. I finally just quit going. They probably got nothing...

Paul said: give thyself to reading of the scriptures

If Paul wrote a letter to Timothy or one of the church groups in towns hundreds of miles apart, why in the world would we assume anyone else had that letter?

    What distinguishes a "Protestant?"

Uh, Jesus only told that one single man, in all the Scriptures, to sell everything. And that was in response to a direct question about what else the man needed to do. He did not tell his disciples that. It certainly wasn't directed to us. In fact, the Bible is loaded with how to manage all...

How much ungodly behavior do you see in the church?

I don't think I ever saw it written that he beat anyone with a stick... or even actually ever hit anyone with anything. (maybe some cows?)

    What distinguishes a "Protestant?"

Matthew 5:48 The Greek and Aramaic words for “perfect” can also mean “whole, complete, fully mature, lacking nothing, all-inclusive, well rounded.” (It is a little nuts to think that verse means we are to be without any flaws.)

    Trespassing against your neighbor

You did (mostly) right...…. even though I wouldn't have called Animal Control at all. (I would have simply taken the dog into my house.)
