I'm going to doubt the science behind this... We have studies with thousands upon thousands of people showing exactly the opposite. Besides, the Danes are. Completely different culture that is unique with several specific things that fight off infection and disease.

I perceive the quarantine a rather minor "punishment". Breaking this minor punishment involves a much more serious punishment... And yet I'm guessing that misery loves company.
