    Internet friends and relationships

Well, I met the woman who would become my wife online and it worked out great! I've also had a lot of interesting conversations and debates about religion as well as other topics that I've never met and some that I ended up meeting. Two of them I'd like to tell you about involve the topic of...

    Homosexuality

The Lord thy God is a spirit, and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. So how many truths are there?

    Homosexuality

I agree, we are all in deep trouble! Those that truly love God and have faith in God will all come in agreement. Did you miss the point I made that it may not come in this lifetime, but it will come? There ain't going to be debates on Heaven's message board! You are all going to agree...

    Works vs. Good works

It happens from time to time. It was my fault.... So, since you believe we are in disagreement concerning the requirements for salvation, what do you believe my belief is on those requirements? What beliefs do I have on justification and sanctificaton that you disagree with?

    Homosexuality

As much as I hate to say it, in the end, they better. We must be in one mind and one accord. That doesn't mean "one mind, one accord except on points A, B, L and S." Now I will say we should discuss it and learn it.... And when the time is right, we will. It won't be because I bend on some...

    Works vs. Good works

Sorry Aspen.... I didn't finish my thought before I accidently hit reply.... Please read the edited message.

    Works vs. Good works

Loving and caring for the brethren is something that is a "good work", which I believe I talked about earlier. The reason is that God told every one of his believers through the Bible that he was in them individually. He is also in each one of the brethren (and not everyone is your brother)...

    Works vs. Good works

I liken it more to two men in a canoe paddling in opposite directions. Paul would've agreed because he said works frustrate grace. Again, if you are talking about 'good works" (which only God will see, not man), then ok.

    Tatoos

I am not wrong. However, you are wrong in what I said. I did not say they were suffering from vanity. I said all three (hair cutting, makeup and tattoos) have something to do with vanity.

What are we supposed to do?

Hello, and welcome! One of the first things I would say is from Matthew 11:29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. You will find many rules in the Old Testament, but this is one of the most important principles...

    Tatoos

Would you agree all three have to do with vanity? Cutting hair may serve a useful purpose in that it becomes cumbersome after a while, but most people (especially women) don't cut their hair because it's in the way.

    Tatoos

I believe you're right, Foreigner, but I think it goes deeper than that. God gave us this "body" (I'm talking about our fleshly bodies) and while it is sinful flesh, it's what God wanted us to have. Getting tattooes is just like cutting your hair, wearing makeup or getting plastic surgery...

John Calvin and the Influence of Calvinism Upon the Rise of Usury Banking and Capitalism

I'm sorry Texian, but I have a hard time separating your views from those of whom you are reporting on. Do you think King James was a Papist? Are you against capitalism?

    Tatoos

I gotta tattoo, my pastor has several and I think his girlfriend even has some. But don't worry... Most of the time it's covered up with our clothing from mixed cloth! So if you want to see the tattoos, then look at our flesh, and you can see them. God ain't looking at the flesh though.

    SHOULD YOU FEAR DEATH?

I don't fear death.... I don't want the pain that comes with it, nor do I want my loved ones to go through it. But I don't fear it. I would hate to see my wife and my friends go through the pain of missing me, as I would of them. But no.... I don't fear death.

    Works vs. Good works

Well, I don't mind you following up with Gal 3, and I like your commentary on it, but I was looking for a commentary on Gal 2. The reason being I am reading a lot from folks on this board (or reading into what they say) that faith is justified by works, or proven by works or at the very least...

    Works vs. Good works

For those of you who think you can't separate works and faith, I'd like your commentary on Gal 2: Gal 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ...

    Works vs. Good works

I have absolutely considered the audience. I did mention it. James was addressing the twelve tribes which were scattered. Paul most of the time was addressing the saints of various Churches.

    Works vs. Good works

I appreciate all the answers.... Here are my thoughts on the subject: 1. Is there a difference in the two terms? I believe there is a difference. Works are things we do for ourselves and may also be things we do for other. "Good works" (used 19 times in the NT) are almost always (but not...
