    Finger pointing and condemnation

One of the best "in the Spirit" moments was at a neighbor's 50th birthday party. Her son came late but gravitated to me. We talked most of the night. He admitted sharing things with me he does not want to share with his mother. At some point, the Spirit prompted me to give him the last remaining...

Trump and Obama talking cordially stirs up anger in Kamal at funeral for Carter.

Not too many former living presidents left with Trump's re-election: Clinton, Bush and Obama. I VERY elite group. It was a funeral. 2 former Presidents sitting next to each other chatting. Rather human. They are political rivals but still belong to the elite group.

    Finger pointing and condemnation

Did you see what you did there; turn ‘we’ into ‘they?’ When ‘we ‘ realize we are in the same boat as ‘they’ it gets a lot more humbling. My first Bible was the Challenge Bible (CEV). It is aimed at drug addicts at an 8th grade reading level. When I admitted that I am an addiction to sin, all...

    Finger pointing and condemnation

I remind myself of the luxury of the written form. It does not require an immediate, reflexive response …. Sometimes I give myself 2 seconds to formulate a witty rejoinder. LOL.

    Finger pointing and condemnation

Here was a great opportunity to take personal responsibility in NOT Finger pointing and condemning others. Opportunity lost. When one points the finger, 4 point back at themselves. I prefer to apply the principles of the book, "Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff." We cannot...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

That's a tough one. We need to meet people where they are, even if where they are is hung up on some craziness. I keep in mind the adage to give until it feels good, not until it hurts. In short, some abandon the field of ideas but stick around to stick it to you emotionally and hail one...

(Deep Dive) 1 Samuel Literary Devices

In 2017, the NSRV released their Cultural Bible, which was the Bible of the Year. In the introduction to 1 Samuel, they identify 10 literary devices. I thought it would be fun for those like @marks, to take a deep dive: Story narrative poem birth narrative call narrative dream theophanies...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

Yup. So, anyway, disagreeing has nothing to do with exploring trinitarian logic. I came across a deep dive opportunity for you today. I'll start a new thread. I think you'll like it. :D

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

Appeal to Strawman. No one in this thread denies Christ. It''s the trinity doctrine that is denied because it is not in Scripture that is denied extreme eisegesis notwithstanding. What is denied by trinitarians is there is only one God, the Father, stated explicitly and repeatedly in Scripture.

Exactly, starting with translations in modern English that don't have archaic words, like thinself, in it, which are far, far superior to obsolete translations. No reason to rely on the worst translation available in English today (anything with "James" in the title).

    Why trust the "Early Fathers?"

Everyone makes mistakes. Also, there may be 2 overlapping subjects. A return to Apostolic teachings, made possible by the printing press. Reformation insights that go beyond above. For instance, how technology might assist in the Great Commission and synergies of zeitgeist and modern...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

So trinitarians claim. Scripture does not actually say this. Relying on a bad translation is bad form.

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

Image and forms are words used in Plato's philosophy but the ideas are not the same. Hebrews know not all as it seems. Paul wrote about seeing dimly. While an angel can take the form of a man, it is understood they are not a kind of man. It is said Jacob wrestled with God all night, who was in...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

If ever a question deserved it's own thread! :D The notion of not knowing something is difficult for man to accept. One could make the argument that is the Original Sin, IDOLATRY of knowledge. Admitting there is something we don't know requires humility. Odd that anyone would feel the need...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

He should look in the mirror, take personal responsibility for his emotions and respond to posts to edify not criticize, condemn and complain. This thread is about trinitarian logic. Predictably, as soon as Marks gets involved, somehow we’re talking about his delicate sensibilities again. Can...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

There is a Taoist expression that I have not found a Judeo-Christian equivalent. Before enlightenment, chop wood. After enlightenment, chop wood. It means one must always return to the basics. I am convinced true Christianity is divinely simple. Love God. Love Others. Humans feel compelled to...

The defensive royal "we," right out of the gate. The opposite is the case, as usual, it's what we expect from you and being overly sensitive. See how that works? Double question marks noted. Yea, "somehow" denying how you certainly can help that. As I said, so many of your posts come across as...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

I did not realize that. To my way of thinking, there are only 2 basic ways to get deeper into ancient text - of any kind: Better grasp foreign language. Better grasp culture I have an NSRV Cultural Bible that came out in 2017 as the Bible of the year. It has 10,000 study notes that give great...
