It's clear to me you do not understand the point of the prophecies in the book of Revelation. The struggle between light and darkness and how darkness and its attempts to usurp light have history we can verify. You call it 16th century politics as if the same principle is not operative today.

I don't find the explanation the angels gave to the disciples at Jesus' ascension as complex as you have described. Acts 1:10-11 '.....this same Jesus who was taken up with you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw him go into heaven'
