If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

You should know that the entire Protestant world up until just about a hundred years ago taught from Scripture - not from a hate filled, accusation filled heart - that the Beast is the Papacy. Since the prophecies are clear that the Mark of the Beast issue is directly related to the worship of...

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

God centered religion is found where people are pointed to the Bible and man-centered religion is found where Bibles were chained to pulpits and forbidden to be read by the people for themselves.

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

I disagree that criticizing Catholic practices is "anti-Catholic" - it's anti-Catholic doctrine, upon which their practices are founded.

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

Did a literal fire-breathing dragon with a tail long enough to scoop up 1/3 of the trillions of stars in the interstellar space chase Mary into the wilderness? Because that is exactly what you must believe if you insist Mary is the "woman" of Revelation 12. You seem to have missed what is...

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

Who said the "woman" in Revelation 12 which was carried away into the wilderness refers to the mother of Jesus?

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

Paul said to others to "follow me as I follow Christ", so that excludes any church leadership that teaches anything contrary to the teachings of Christ and His commandments. Any church that feels it can remove the 2nd commandment of Christ which forbids image worship, change the 4th commandment...

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

The "woman" can't be Mary. The Woman was carried away into the wilderness for a "time, times, and half a time" which is 1,260 symbolic days, or literal years, just like the 70 symbolic Weeks are actually 490 literal years. Mary probably died before the destruction of Jerusalem and is still in...

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

John Tetzel, who rode through the towns and hamlets of Europe selling indulgences to the masses, was infamously known for the saying, "As soon as the coin in the coffer rings, the soul from Purgatory springs." I think you're incredulity is better directed to your church for teaching the masses...

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

God's church was, is, and always will be those who are obedient to His commandments, not the commandments of men. It is the Antichrist who Daniel said "would think to change times and laws".

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

Yes, according to their writings. Even the great John Foxe, who wrote his "Book of Martyrs" said to William Tyndale when Foxe was yet still a staunch Catholic apologist and Papal loyalist, "We would be better to be without God's law than the pope's law", to which a righteously indignant Tyndale...

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

"Charity is kind" and kindness is not displayed through insult or ridicule, is it not?

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

There are no "anti-Catholics" here - only those who are "anti-Catholic doctrine" - BIG difference...

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

They likely felt the need to leave the Catholic church for the same reason that so many did during the Protestant Reformation: they turned away from man-centered religion toward Christ centered religion.

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

Yes, the Catholic church has stated that "Scripture AND tradition" are equally authoritative, and when the one contradicts the other, "the holy Scriptures must be thrown aside".

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

I'm saying the carnal mind is incapable of understanding Scripture and the believer is granted grace by the Holy Spirit to understand the things of God which He has revealed to "men of low estate". To say that the church is responsible for bringing forth Scripture is like saying evolution is...

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

"Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God" - Romans 10:17 KJV I'm glad that many Catholics chose to take hold of the Bible despite the RCC's prohibitions. Why would anyone think it reasonable to deny access to that which faith is derived and cultivated?

If We Protestants Truly Hated Catholics...

That's not saying much if the interpreter of Scripture is the Holy Spirit. My point is that the Bible alone - and not tradition, words "ex cathedra", or Papal bulls and decretals - is what Protestants hold as unparalleled authority over ecclesiastical matters...and secular matters as well.

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

"Fascism is the regime that most closely corresponds to the concepts of the church of Rome." - Civilita Cattolica, Jesuit publication. The reason why God's greatest gift to His creatures is freedom of choice? Any child raised on VeggieTales can answer that: The young Snoodle pondered the...

    BABYLON SCAMYLON

If you can produce any official documentation bearing the Imprimatur that says Catholics can do as you say, I'd love to read it.
