    Is Ignorance Bliss?

This destroys the moral relativism popular today and reinforces the importance of coming to terms with absolutes.

    The social gospel?

Hmmm. I used to think that. My church teaches that we, Gentiles, were never under the law, that the law was only given to those Hebrews with Moses at Mt Sinai. Then God gave the people all these instructions[a]: 2 “I am the LORD your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of...

    The social gospel?

Outstanding! This false claim is being stated in several threads simultaneously. Thanks for this post and verse. Agreed. Fortunately, I will not see his reply to your post here because I put him - and his darkness - on ignore.

    The social gospel?

A far departure from the social gospel. and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do? James 2:16 (NLT)

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

You seem less concerned that what you claim to value is being more denigrated and more elated that your brethren are caught being hypocrites. Odd defender of the faith ...

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

They rationalization for such things to be "unconstitutional" is to ignore that the Constituion says on the matter and impose what is not there, pretend there is a "separation of church and state" clause. There is no such clause.

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

Not an answer to my question. Are you part of the American culture, a part of the body of Christ?

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

No. I'm offended because what you are writting is offensive to the very Judeo-Christian community you claim to represent. Worse than an enemy, you are a traitor.

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

Are you not a part of the body? Isn't it your culture also?

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

Nonsense! Repeating what is untrue does not make it true. The 10C is in every Bible ever published. Our Judeo-Christian history has NOT been done away with and I am offended at you repeatedly asserting it.

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

Yea, let criminals have veto power so laws don't apply to them!

They're suing to get the ten commandments out of schools

Because Jesus did not come to abolish the law. Putting aside your theological distraction, this is a political issue and what is under attack is our Judeo-Christian culture symbolized by the presence of the 10C in schools.

    Is Ignorance Bliss?

Truth and Grace - for the truth is many will also not be freed and will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. I, myself, was freed before I accepted the truth. Indeed, while I was an enemy of the truth. See Prevenient grace.

    Is Ignorance Bliss?

@Pancho Frijoles, a Biblical way to set this juxtaposition, to use Biblical terms is the BALANCE between Truth and Grace. My former pastor wrote a short book entitled Grace and Truth, putting Grace first precisely because so many people are biased toward truth that Grace inevitably gets...

    Is Ignorance Bliss?

It is not a real world example. In the real world, there is the soulful consideration. Forgive me but you ignored the wisdom of this OTOH. Leaving academic theology aside, what can you say about this application of the wisdom "Ignorance is bliss"? If you can't say anything nice, don't say...

    Is Ignorance Bliss?

That’s a specious ‘if.’ One rationalization for it would be the more smoking is promoted, the more SOME people are attracted to it DUE TO some perversion of their ego. Can you think of another explanation? I do not believe it is wise to develop a moral guide based on how the irrational...

    Is Ignorance Bliss?

Another great thread @Pancho Frijoles My first Bible Study leader was fond of observing that the constant message of the Bible is, "Don't go too far left. Don't go too far right." (Jesus spoke of this as the narrow road.) OTOH, we have "ignorance is bliss." And OTOH, we have, "know the truth...

Why don't you change your pic then?

    The social gospel?

Yes. Some things are irreconcilable. Ultimately, God will throw many into the Lake of Fire.

    The social gospel?

Yes, it is. It is my analogy and it is your dollar to give. The dollar represents respect for others, humility, appreciation and acknowledgement that others know the Spirit of God AND have effectively communicated it in the present case. I put it this way. @Lizbeth puts it another way. @marks...
