Ok, so the multitude was standing there as God spoke, yet they departed. The scripture you posted says faith comes by hearing. They certainly heard what He said we know this because they reacted by departing, apparently in this isolated occurrence it didn’t come. Why do you believe this is?

Of course it helps, this is why they departed, Those whom walked away had not been gifted this fruit of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is solely an act of God.
