If God chooses us, is it a waste of time preaching to unbelievers?

@Mantis In the end it's the work of the 'sword of the Spirit', the word of God, right? :)

    Encouraging verses

Reminds me of the hymn, Onward, Christian soldiers...

"I quite like males with earrings": a low-key, respectful discussion

@Pearl IF indeed he wants to have it done, it's just an ideal gift for grandparents to give to a grandson, anyway. (Whether for a granddaughter or a grandson, it can be something just gracious that helps them develop their personal style and confidence.) Just my 2c.... (As long as he's...

"I quite like males with earrings": a low-key, respectful discussion

@Helen My 2c...and not in respect of anyone else...is that IF indeed a son/grandson really wants to have it done, it can simply be a quiet and appreciated b-day or Christmas gift for him... Not if he doesn't want it; but if he does, when he just gently and confidently goes for it.

What's the weather like where you are?

@Helen It's been really good further east here, also...though pretty wet now....

"I quite like males with earrings": a low-key, respectful discussion

Thanks for those verses, @Pearl Just goes to show how far back it goes, right? Whether or not there is the doctrinal association as in those verses you kindly quoted; and whether or not people actually do it (men as well as women), it does go to show how far back it goes. And benign.

    Ephesians 6:10-18

Ephesians is such a strong, encouraging Epistle.... :)

Covid-19 Vaccines: have you had a jab?

The Tetragrammaton YHVH corresponds with the word LORD in the Old Testament. (Psalm 110.1, etc.), sometimes rendered Jehovah (nothing to do with the JWs, of course...)

    Ephesians 6:10-18

    @Heart2Soul I love this hymn: :)

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@Heart2Soul I think for a lot of ppl who likely have as you say a great personal testimony, going for the first faith based ink is often a matter of finding the courage to have it done; thereafter it's easier.

    Ephesians 6:10-18

@Heart2Soul It's a wonderful corollary to the great truth of justification by faith; God's righteousness upon us, by faith.... :)

    Ephesians 6:10-18

Father, Son and Holy Spirit are deeply present in Scripture: John's Gospel, esp. chapters 13 - 17; Romans 8; John's First Epistle. The witness of Scripture is truly saturated with God in Three Persons.

    Jesus Is God: Part 1

@Ziggy There has been over the centuries a lot of discussion about how exactly body, soul and spirit correspond with Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in Scripture. I do think that it's safe and wise to concentrate on the statements of Scripture about these various subjects...

Why do you feel it is so hard to be good?

@VictoryinJesus From an absolute Godward perspective, it's 'not of works', Ephesians 2.9, right? :)

Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

@VictoryinJesus You've mentioned before that your daughter is thoroughly into tattoos, but maybe with the Covid she along with a lot of others has had to back off somewhat, because the close work involved, as @Ziggy says, in having them tends to militate against distancing, right?

Why do you feel it is so hard to be good?

@VictoryinJesus I do enjoy those twin themes in Philippians, not only the suffering but the more than compensating joy...truly it's the Epistle of Joy... :)

Why do you feel it is so hard to be good?

That’s just simply not true, but I’ll not be going down that rabbit hole with you tonight. @Waiting on him Interesting that 1 Corinthians 15.20 says: "But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept." As per Hebrews 7, the law system has been changed.
