Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

Hi @1stCenturyLady So are you still in touch with your brother-in-law who you said is into tattoos and leathers? :)

    Late Night Thread...

@Wynona I'm not sure that the term 'passive vaper' is as current as 'passive smoker' used to be. Although I guess that logically the same tendency is there. (And at least you enjoy the smell of menthol vape with a bit of nicotine, right? it would be a pity if you didn't, I guess...)

    So, hey everyone!

@Wynona I guess I was thrown by his ideas on divorce; and by the cynicism of the Screwtape Letters. (Maybe others don't read him in the same light, though...)

    Late Night Thread...

@Wynona Good point; I guess a way to put it would be that I have resisted legalism for 40 years or so...but indeed we need to keep 'looking unto Jesus' (Hebrews 12.2) and to the good of others.

    So, hey everyone!

@Wynona I'm familiar with him but found it hard 30-40 years ago to get into his writings...

    Late Night Thread...

@Wynona Yes; sorry; I should have make this clear. There is always an inner conflict as regards sanctification, of course. But it is via the conscience and not via a circle of legalists who might relish trying to dictate to others what is in fact their own business.

    Hello

Hi Ms. @Rainy Jones ; good to see you!

    Late Night Thread...

@Wynona Well, I take your point, yes. Of course, legalists would even find fault with someone who admitted to liking the smell of menthol vapor with nicotine content (but I have to confess I have battled with legalism for 40 years and am not likely to stop now...)

Can you be pro-choice and still be a Christian?

    @Wynona Good thought...

    Late Night Thread...

@Wynona Well, it probably wouldn't be stretching the term too much to describe yourself as at least a passive smoker (often used in the past about those who were frequently around lit cigarettes), in the sense that you are accustomed to breathing nicotine laced menthol vapor (and it's maybe just...

Can you be pro-choice and still be a Christian?

@Wynona Oh I'm not in favor of abortion. It does seem that some ppl reserve a similar vehemence against birth control meds, condoms, etc, which they employ in discussions that are specifically about abortion. But like you say, it's a matter of focusing on our own convictions.

E= MC 2? (or whatever it is...)

Can you be pro-choice and still be a Christian?

@Wynona But I mean for example, some birth control meds are used for the primary purpose of regulating cycles; the same med can be used for two entirely different purposes. It would be a real legalist who wanted to oppose the med for all purposes in case someone thought it was being used for...

Can you be pro-choice and still be a Christian?

@Wynona You could always also start another thread, say, on the birth-control aspects of reproduction rather than focusing specifically on the abortion aspect; such a discussion might be a bit less acrimonious, maybe?

    Life itself….

@Not me John's First Epistle has a lot in it about the theme of spiritual life....
