Interesting that Paul in Romans in chapter 1 and chapter 16 speaks of 'obedience to the faith' and 'the obedience of faith'. This is of course a long way from any supposed idea of earning salvation by works.

Ephesians 1 and John 6 have some very relevant verses for Christians which show the sovereignty of God in salvation.
