I was thinking of the comment about 'free grace': Ephesians 1 speaks of the 'exceeding riches of His grace'. Yes, as Paul says to Titus, we should live soberly, righteously and Godly in the present world'.

I do agree about the dangers of hypocrisy, but I would not turn doctrines of the grace of God in the Gospel into a mixture of human merit with supposed grace.

The Scriptures are indeed searching; what joyful truth there is in them to be received by faith, because of the work at the Cross of the Saviour, Whose coming into the world many are currently remembering! :)
