    The reason for the season.

    @Ziggy Have you noticed how Santa Claus is supposed to say Ho-Ho-Ho instead of Ha-Ha-Ha? not sure why.... I'm really not into the Santa stuff anyway...

    The reason for the season.

    @Pearl @April_Rose is nice, actually. (Sometimes debates can get a bit lively...)

    @BeauJangles Sorry about those thefts...

    Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

    @Pearl Yes, it's an absorbing subject - at least, for those who might care to be absorbed by it. Interesting that in Leviticus 19 the previous verse seems to say about not trimming one's beard; do preachers shave? if they do, then in a sense they are making a backhanded admission that they are...

    Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

    @Pearl PS: I see I didn't exactly answer your question about one the size of your daughters; hard to say exactly; but an artist would be the best person to say.

    The Key To Unlocking Scripture

    @Taken Indeed; good to search the Scriptures with a truly Berean spirit (Acts 17.11).

    Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

    @Pearl Well, a really tiny one might cost as little as $50, but really one might consider the variables that come into play: the time the artist spends preparing and doing it, the size and amount of ink, and so forth. The beauty of costing is that there is no commitment at all involved in going...

    The reason for the season.

    @April_Rose The chapter is talking about giving as a subject; and the Lord Jesus Himself is the best of gifts. This is also part of the deep thought of John 3.16: 'For God so loved the world that He gave....'

    @Pearl Oh you wrote it; how lovely! I reckon your family likes to sing it... :)

    The Key To Unlocking Scripture

    @Taken It's indeed a matter of taking to heart what the Lord Jesus said in John 17.17: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

    The reason for the season.

    I do love the verse: "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift." (2 Corinthians 9.15) :)

    The reason for the season.

    @Nancy I think I've heard a recording of one of the Oxford or Cambridge college chapel choirs singing that one...

    The reason for the season.

    @Nancy I like the reference to the Imminent Return! :) Good to keep looking up - Hebrews 12.2. In keeping with the verse Psalm 16.8 that @Pearl quotes.

    The reason for the season.

    @Pearl I didn't know that one! :)

    Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

    @Pearl Oh, so when you kindly sent the picture of your daughter's tattoo(s) some weeks back you yourself had seen them over the computer but not in 'real life' yet. Seems like they quite impressed you as being rather pretty when you actually saw them 'in the flesh', so to speak. Seems anyway...

    The reason for the season.

    @Pearl I love those words. Yes, the Queen is very earnest about her role in the Church of England; at her coronation The Queen was given a Bible with the words: 'These are the lively oracles of God; this is the royal law'. Do you have a favourite carol?

    Poll: Tattoo art - Christian perspectives: Fight it? Ignore it? appreciate/embrace it?

    @Taken The young lady my wife and I spoke with who had the whole of John 3.16 in full tattooed on her wrist area must indeed have spent a lot of time considering the placement, choosing the text and sizing the wording with the help of a tattoo artist. While it would have been a personal...

    The Key To Unlocking Scripture

    @Taken Time spent gleaning from the Word always comes useful in the end if stored in the granaries of the mind, so to speak, to be able to speak 'a word in season to him that is weary' (Isaiah 50.4).

    Age for first ear piercings?

    @Ziggy It's topical; some men do it as well as women; and the studs ("I prefer the smaller, tiny ones like studs") make for good Christmas/b-day gifts, don't they? suitable for granddaughters/grandsons, etc.
