    Dead to the Law

What is the same is Jesus saying, we MUST be born again. That is receiving a new nature. I think you'd know it if that happened. I was amazed. I wasn't even expecting it, because no one ever said what to expect, or even to expect a change. Mine was between night and day. Matthew 6:25-34 isn't...

    Dead to the Law

Though Peter says if you do these things you will never stumble. And James is talking about our words, which could be trespasses, that we are able to commit even when walking in the Spirit. The problem I have with the teaching you go by is that you believe you will also commit sins of...

    Dead to the Law

No, actually receiving the Holy Spirit is when you are born again. Baptism can actually be done after you receive the Spirit, not TO receive the Holy Spirit, because baptism is in answer to a good conscience, and your conscience is clear only after you stop sinning, which you can't do without...

    Dead to the Law

    Dead to the Law

It is through a true repentance. Acts 2:38 I'll send you my testimony of when it happened to me.

    Three Days?

A preparation day was before feasts also which are called "high Sabbaths." Remember Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were that week. So it doesn't necessarily mean Friday before the "weekly" Sabbath.

    Dead to the Law

The eternal laws are much deeper than the Ten Commandments that were fashioned after them, but the 10C were designed to be able to be kept with a carnal mind so were merely the bottom line but could never make one truly righteous. We must be born again with a different nature to be truly able to...

    Dead to the Law

I realized I was a sinner before coming to Christ. In fact, my helplessness to be righteous on my own and failing miserably is when I repented. Jesus then filled me with His Spirit and empowered me with so much power over sin, I didn't have anymore desire to commit sin. That is the truth of...

    Dead to the Law

He is the end of the Old Covenant, the ministry of death, and author of the better promises of the New Covenant. 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death...

    Dead to the Law

He was exaggerating, but he still meant it, that willful sins of lawlessness could not separate us from God. But John says those who commit that type of willful sins of lawlessness are of the devil. So, yes, they do separate you from God, never having been His in the first place. ML was a poor...

    Dead to the Law

21 But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

    Dead to the Law

You do what your conscience tells you to do. What I believe is written on our hearts is not the Ten Commandments per se with the 4th commandment, but what I call the eternal laws of God that the Ten Commandments were fashioned after, but didn't quite measure up to their depth or could make on...

Yes, that is something Martin Luther wrote!

    Dead to the Law

Exactly. I love SDA's because of their keenness for holiness, and still have a very soft spot for them. I pretty much despise liberal Christians who brag how much they sin as if grace abounds more in them. I really love @BarnyFife.

    Dead to the Law

Really? I didn't know that. I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist, and do not keep the 7th day Sabbath. By keeping Jesus every moment of every day, called "today" we fulfill the righteous requirements of the law. Jesus is the fulfillment of ALL the holy convocations of Leviticus 23. Go read the...

    Dead to the Law

You are missing the contrast between Romans 7 and Romans 8. We must be born again of the Spirit who keeps the righteous requirements of the law through us. We don't sin just because we trust Jesus to save us. Do you understand that we are a slave to righteousness?

    Dead to the Law

Are you a Seventh-day Adventist or Messianic and keep the 7th day Sabbath?

    Dead to the Law

You misunderstand. I agree we are not under the law of the Old Covenant that was kept by a nature contrary to it. But the greater law of the New Covenant written on our hearts that we naturally keep. Romans 3:31. We establish the law. As far as homosexuality or any of the other sexual sins that...

    Dead to the Law

What? You didn't mention the laws of the New Covenant, only "the law." Sorry, wrong law.
