    Dead in Sin !

Yes, it is. We are talking about the source of sin - it is our nature, whether the old man, or the born again new man. That is the soul and spirit. 1 John 3:9

    Dead in Sin !

Well, of course, Jesus exists. He was resurrected. I thought that was plain in what I wrote.

Another thought. Though we are not under the Old Law, we are under a stronger law called the Law of Liberty and CAN be judged by it. Here is James discussing the Old Law and how condemning it was, but notice verse 12, that most people overlook. James 2: 8 If you really fulfill the royal law...

    Dead in Sin !

This is why Paul commanded (commandment) us to not quench the Spirit. We must always walk in the Spirit. That is in our control, and the more we mature in the Lord and in the fruit of the Spirit, the stronger we are to never quench Him, but to always abide in Him. 1 John 3:24.

    Dead in Sin !

I don't even count the body, as it is just like a shell. Think of a bomb that comes in the mail. The box containing the bomb can do nothing to you.

    Dead in Sin !

Just as Jesus was resurrected, so is our soul and spirit, and eventually our body, BORN AGAIN. Romans 6:17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became...

    Dead in Sin !

Look at 1 John 5:16-17 and 1 John 3:4. When you say commit, are you talking about knowing full well it is against God's commandments, or are you talking about unknown trespasses, or even known immature fruit of the Spirit?

    Dead in Sin !

No, does yours? Romans 6:6 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.

    Dead in Sin !

I agree with this. Just not the spirit in which it was written, a carnal spirit.

    Dead in Sin !

I've never heard of practical sins in the Bible, and don't know what that means. As far as indwelling sin, isn't the soul and spirit where it resided? Those two parts of us is what is born again. Basically our nature, our mind and heart. Our body is just the shell that encases our soul and...

Why is the bible so murky and confusing?

    Hey brother, Welcome back!

    Dead in Sin !

Hi jbf, I just want you to know my thoughts on 1 John 1:9. There are two ways to interpret it and there is one that is more popular than the other, but I believe the other as it does not contradict scripture, whereas the more popular one certainly does. You just stated the popular one. But just...

    Identification

Absolutely, and have seen many miracles because of faith. We must be anxious for nothing. On a long trip across country I was listening to a teaching tape set by Charles Stanley called God is in Control. It changed my life. Nothing scared me after that.

    Dead in Sin !

You do realize that the verses you may be quoting were about his 12 apostles? If it has the words "that the Father gave me," that differentiates the apostles from the rest of the world.

If Baptism could save then there is no need for the shed Blood of Jesus.

21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having...

    Dead in Sin !

No, because He draws everyone, but not everyone accepts. Jesus succeeded in His mission. Therefore, John 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.”

    Dead in Sin !

What Calvinists don't understand is how someone who is spiritually dead can on their own repent and come to Christ. They can't. That is why the Father draws them to understand that they are helpless. That is what the Ten Commandments were for - to show us our sin, and the power of our sinful...
