@michaelvpardo I think the point is also that the Acts of the Apostles is a transitional book... We do have in Scripture an abiding record of 'the faith once delivered to the saints' (Jude).

@Rita I think Scripture would in any case tell is that repentance is an ongoing process that does not stop, as well as an occasion marked by conversion to Christ: "For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of..." (2 Corinthians 7.10).

Not baptismal regeneration; it's symbolic; in Acts 2.41, 'they that gladly believed his word' were not baptised in order to become believers; they were baptised because they were believers.

The onus is on demonstrating that the Bible supposedly does refer to the United States; argument from silence gets nowhere.

If ppl want to see the United States in the Bible and want it strongly enough, they will likely "see" it. It's called eisegesis (putting meaning into the text), rather than exegesis (getting the meaning that's actually there from the text).

@Naomi25 Well, sooner or later they nearly all seem to go to the parlor now, to have it done. The point is, I guess, if it's in a faith based design, the motivation behind getting one: is it being injected with a view to wanting faith based conversations to ensue? For a lot of young Christians...

@bukka Decades back there was a prophetic paperback issued with a cover showing a missile with a hammer and sickle falling on a map of Israel. The hammer and sickle represented the Soviet Union. Where is the Soviet Union today? Where is the prophecy which insinuated that specifically Soviet...

Great passages there. I don't see baptism as effecting something spiritual; it's a precious, after-the-event symbol (Acts 2.41).

This is among the most amazing books of the Bible. (Speaks much to the easy divorce culture of professing evangelicalism.) It ties in with the New Testament truth about the amazing, sovereign grace and patience of God in the Gospel.
