    Hebrews 9.26 shows indeed that it's the blood of Christ that purges the conscience, not water. Ephesians 5.26 speaks of 'the washing of water by the word', which is about the cleansing effect of the Scriptures, not about water baptism.

    "They that gladly believed his word were baptised" (Acts 2.41). Clearly they gave evidence that they believed by gladly receiving his word; and this is why, as believers, they were baptised as a symbol.

    He was the only possible sacrifice when He shed His most precious blood at the Cross. 2 Corinthians 5.21. I do not elevate the symbol of baptism above the efficacy of the precious blood of Christ.

    My understanding from Acts is that believers were baptised because they were already believers, not in order to become believers (Acts 2.41).

    Do you think she is really challenging you when she asks this at such a young age? I would think she is being just matter of fact and innocent; she knows that it's what you do (she probably doesn't even know the word 'vaping'...)
