Is it a sin to use contraception?

@Sabertooth Local churches are not in any case in any position supposedly to "implement policy" when it comes to private issues like this. Within a Biblical local church, there will sometimes be widely divergent ideas and life situations among those who are sound in the faith.

Is it a sin to use contraception?

@Deborah_ It was all bound up in any case with 'the duty of an husbands brother' in Old Testament Jewish practice; which is yet another piece of evidence that some of what we have in the OT is vastly different from the situation of New Testament believers - many of whom are from a Gentile...

Is it a sin to use contraception?

I do think that - beyond traditionalist Roman Catholic circles - pressure for young Christians to get married young can play havoc on their lives, indeed. Within a Biblical framework, young believers or older should have the freedom to decide entirely for themselves when or whether to get...

    The "News" Media

@Rita It's often commented that in Western Canada the outlook is significantly more oriented to the US, or at least, common outlooks often seem to prevail sometimes, how ever much sometimes denied.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Rita Let's trust that over this distancing period he will find a peace at home and a sense of settling his thoughts by God's grace in the perennial things that really matter in terms of values for time and eternity. I'm sure you pray for him a lot and for all the family.

    Corporate Dreams: 4/18/2020 to 5/18/2020

@Rita, I guess this is really how l look at it; emphasis on what Scripture may say and reveal; dream memories can be both extremely vivid but also very subjective in the greater scheme of things.

@Not me Thanks! (Hmm... on my screen your vote doesn't seem to have come up...will check back later...)

The "Israel of God": Who are they?

@Nancy Does not seem to be the church in view. As also in Luke 21, a similar passage; only in Luke 22 when the Lord Jesus institutes the Lord's Supper (tellingly introduced from the context of the passover - subsequently transcended in the dawn of a profoundly new era) does the New Testament in...

@Not me Thanks! (Did you vote in the poll yet...?) :)

The warnings in Hebrews 10 ...

    @Not me So searching, indeed.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Not me Thanks for the question. I guess the term is very generally used. The OP simply sets the background about the sheer profusion of the medium today. Leaving aside personal likes/dislikes and the aesthetic/unaesthetic aspect, I guess it's a general question about the overall ball park...

@Not me FYI....did you see the recent poll, above?

The warnings in Hebrews 10 ...

@Not me What a searching Epistle is Hebrews.....! here, against an Old Testament background, the superiority ("better", a keyword) to anything in the Old Testament of the Lord Jesus in all His glorious offices, titles, and finished work, with all the Old Testament Scriptures pointing forward to...

    Who appreciates Christian hard rock?

@Hidden In Him : Well, exactly.

The "Israel of God": Who are they?

@Nancy : Do you think there is also an element here of a Jewish remnant as seen in Matthew 24? I guess it all relates to how one reads Scripture in terms of dispensations and the groups mentioned in 1 Cor. 10.32, Jews, Gentiles and the church of God.

Poll: Does the mainstreaming of tattoos open up increasing opportunities for faith ink witness?

@Nancy ...so lots of Christians would just say: 'Use (or work as), a tattoo artist / Don't use (or don't work as), a tattoo artist; it's no big deal.

    Job 17

@Nancy There is a time to speak, and a time to refrain from speaking.

    Catholic Charismatic Renewal

@Josho I would concentrate on doctrine rather than experience. In the end it's all about what the Scriptures actually say and teach, rather than on what ppl say and the experiences they may seem to have.
