    James

The way we are and the way we perceive ourselves is so often very different. Scripture is a wholesome mirror which contains Good News how by faith we may be transformed because of the work of Christ. :)

    Daniel 8, 2,300 days

    I do prefer the KJV...

    SEASONS OF THE SOUL

This is why we must learn to feed prayerfully on the Scriptures throughout all our 'seasons'. :)

    Humility

I guess I was thinking about what is among the most searching revealed varieties of humility recorded in Scripture, as a follow on to your reference to many levels of humility. "Lest I forget Gethsemane, Lest I forget Thine agony, Lest I forget Thy love to me, Lead me to Calvary."

    Humility

I think the Philippians 2 passage about the Lord Jesus humbling Himself and becoming obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross, is so searching.

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

@Butterfly BTW, did you vote in the poll? (there is even an option 'not sure / rather not say'...)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

Thanks for the comment! While 14 voted 'never', 11 voted other options. I guess that looking at the results from a perspective of proportionality is also significant. "I wonder if the vote is just based on their own personal preference...as in "I'd never get a tattoo at any age" : maybe there...

The Great Historic Revivals and What Triggered Them

I read The Great Evangelical Disaster in 1985 and it was an excellent, timely book. It goes to show just how watered down the term "evangelical" has become. My reading of it shows how one needs to resist the patronizing claim for unity with those who call themselves "evangelical" while having...

    Your favorite Psalm?

@VictoryinJesus Also: Psalm 27.4: "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple."

    Your favorite Psalm?

    Mystery Babylon-Understanding the imagery

Great verse; shows that the Lord Jesus' followers can preach the Gospel with confidence, right? :)

    Is God evil?

This is a good point also. (Though we don't really need to go back to this, in 1887: ) Bathing Costumes from Marshall & Snelgrove, Oxford Street, public domainm wikimedia

    Is God evil?

It seems that for the first time after the fall, Adam and Eve felt a conscientious wound about exposing private areas of their bodies. However, if those areas are indeed covered, then I find it hard to figure why some very conservative Christians even try to give people on a beach trouble...

    It's still cool up here, @Grams ... :)

Poll: Best age for first tattoo?

In terms also of the discussion on the other thread, the needled ink was inspiring and making you feel good, and so 'liberating'?

    Reaction Formation

My qualification was that it's truly liberating to be 'truly subject to the Lord's revealed will'! :)

    Reaction Formation

No, it's very worthwhile and interesting; you write very thoughtfully. I guess Scripture informed reflection and analysis of various aspects of one's experience — health disorders (ultimately liberating?), family life in its complexity (ultimately liberating?), tattoos (ultimately liberating?)...
