Who does the Bible teach is Apostle to you & I ?

If you take that view, it becomes really confusing, because "pauline", as well as being a name when it has a capital P, is also an adjective. When somebody writes or speaks of "the pauline epistles", they mean the epistles written by Paul.

Cessationism (the notion that the miraculous gifts of the Spirit "went away with the death of the Apostles")

I fully agree that even the miracles associated with the apostles were performed by God's power, not the power of the apostles. I certainly don't believe in a powerless God.

Cessationism (the notion that the miraculous gifts of the Spirit "went away with the death of the Apostles")

Where did I say that? What I was saying was that cessationism (at least as I understand it) says that the "sign gifts" given to the apostles, like healing, have ceased, not that God Himself no longer performs miracles. I said nothing about miracles "wearing God out."

Cessationism (the notion that the miraculous gifts of the Spirit "went away with the death of the Apostles")

But surely cessationists do not believe that God has ceased performing miracles. After all, every sinner, when they are converted, is given new life by God, and that is a great miracle. Rather, cessationism says that the miraculous abilities granted to the apostles have ceased. So nobody is...

A Textual Challenge to the “Mary and Joseph Had Later Relations” Position

    1. She was only betrothed to Joseph at the time. Although betrothal was far more definite and binding than our "engagement", I understand that the betrothed couple would have no direct contact, let alone sexual relations, during their betrothal period, which lasted about a year. We don't know...

    IS THERE ONLY WATER BAPTISM?

No. We cannot witness for Christ unless we ourselves are already Christians. We don't somehow become "more saved" when we help somebody who isn't yet a Christian to understand the Bible.

Who does the Bible teach is Apostle to you & I ?

The Bible tells us that Paul had the God-given task of taking the gospel beyond the bounds of Israel. For example, we read: Act 13:1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been...

Who does the Bible teach is Apostle to you & I ?

Any of them who were involved as the human "penmen" of the Scriptures, and any of them whose preaching or teaching is recorded in the Bible. For example, John wrote about the necessity of being born again, and of believing in Jesus Christ. There is not some different way for me as a Gentile to...

Who does the Bible teach is Apostle to you & I ?

But none of those verses teach that Paul would continue to be an apostle to Gentiles after his death. Besides, the so-called "Great Commission" to go into all the world and preach the gospel was given by Jesus to all the apostles.

    Biblical Support For Soliciting Prostitutes

But Samson going to the prostitute in Gaza is in Judges 16: NKJV Jdg 16:1 Now Samson went to Gaza and saw a harlot there, and went in to her. His marriage is in Judges 14: NKJV Jdg 14:1 Now Samson went down to Timnah, and saw a woman in Timnah of the daughters of the Philistines. Jdg 14:2 So...

    Flat Earth Theory

As neither a sphere nor a circle have corners, then unless we say that the earth is some shape such as a square or a cube which does have corners, we must take it as meaning something such as the four main compass bearings, north, south, east and west, which is what the commentators I have read say.
  12. David Lamb

    Flat Earth Theory

Well, I watched it, but I am not sure what it has to do with the shape of the earth.

    Flat Earth Theory

Can you explain how a circle has corners?
  14. David Lamb

    Flat Earth Theory

    Yes, I agree.
  15. David Lamb

    Flat Earth Theory

Well, if you take that literally, the earth cannot be a circle or a sphere, because neither of them has corners.

    Flat Earth Theory

I know the Job verse is not about the earth. I just meant that the same Hebrew word that is translated "circle" in Isaiah 40:22 is translated "circuit" in Job.
  17. David Lamb

    Flat Earth Theory

Sorry, you have misunderstood my post. If that was my fault, through careless wording, I apologise. I didn't mean that the Job verse mentioned the circuit of the earth. What I said (at least, what I meant to say) was that the same Hebrew word that is translated "circle" in Isaiah 40:22 is...

    Flat Earth Theory

I would say by reading what Scripture actually says. And Isaiah 40:22 does not say that the earth is a circle. It includes the phrase, "the circle of the earth". So the earth has a circle. I also understand (though I don't know Hebrew, so I rely on concordances) that the word translated...

    Flat Earth Theory

The psalmist wrote: NKJV Psa 102:6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the desert. Did he mean that a pelican is the wilderness, or an owl is the desert? Of course not. So why do you take the words "circle of the earth" to mean "the earth is a circle"?

    Aliens

Sadly there are all too many pictures and toys which represent Noah's ark like that, a smallish boat with hardly enough room for two of every farm animal, let alone wild animals. Here are God's instructions to Noah for building the ark: Gen 6:14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms...
