I am struggling with the notion of pre-destination - can flesh be predestined? (strong?)

If one's future state is used as proof of past predestination, this is the logical fallacy of circular reasoning or self-confirming statements. In other words, saying someone was predestined because they ultimately end up saved is stating the outcome to prove the premise.

WHO IS THE WILD OLIVE TREE ?

All Christians form the body of Christ. Eph 2:11-22 Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made in the flesh by hands— (12) that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of...

    The Lost Tribes...

Did you ever come across the phenomenon of folk etymology, where people create alternative explanations for the origins of words based on similarities in sound and meaning, but not necessarily based on historical or linguistic evidence? These interpretations often arise from cultural, religious...

    Conformed Or Transformed

In the world but not of the world, walking by faith not by sight, abiding in the Vine.

I hate myself, and hate being an atheist.

In the passage I cited did it seem like Pharoah was a kind, reasonable, merciful ruler of Egypt, or a cruel, hardened taskmaster? From the start of the interaction between Moses and Pharoah, God's intention is made clear, see these verses: Exo 3:19-20 But I know that the king of Egypt will...

    A PECULIAR PEOPLE

That's not surprising given his call to the Gentiles and his analogy of corporal unity. In his letter to the Ephesians Paul addresses the removal of the dividing wall between Jews and Gentiles. This concept is central to his theology of unity in Christ. Ephesians 2:14-16: "For he himself is...

I hate myself, and hate being an atheist.

When you go back to the Book of Exodus and read this it makes more sense . . . Exo 3:6-10 Moreover He said, "I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God. (7) And the LORD said: "I have...

    A PECULIAR PEOPLE

You raise an interesting topic for discussion. I had a nagging thought about the Gentile believers being endowed with nationhood along with the redeemed of Israel, and found some material to suggest they are, whereas unredeemed Israel are stripped of it. [Hos 1:8-9 Now when she had weaned...

Extreme Emphasis On Hunger For God

It's been an in-house thing in certain assemblies that encourage spiritual intensity here for decades, but lately I've sensed a shift from the juvenile default call by animated populist preachers to be hungry for God, to a more mature desire for the gifts of the Spirit to be accepted where...

Extreme Emphasis On Hunger For God

An extreme emphasis on hunger for God could be the precursor to a new move of the Holy Spirit

Act 11:1 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. Big news back then.

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

In the verses below Paul in speaking about the measure of Christ's gift expounds with a reference from Ps.68:18 and points out that in order to ascend Christ first had to descend, which was achieved when Mary conceived through the agency of the Holy Spirit. Eph 4:7-10 But to each one of us...

DOES NO ONE WANT TO BE CORRECTED?

See here: Rev 10:1-2 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: (2) And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and...

    Exploring Trinitarian Logic

See 2 Chronicles 14:7 Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers (14) My people, which are called by my name.—See margin; 2Chronicles 6:33; Amos 9:12; Jeremiah 14:9. The sense is: which are dedicated to me.
