    St John of the Cross

Mystical Christianity must be separated from eastern mysticism. It has nothing to do with it. It is about not just learning about God but experiencing Him in union and hearing Him speak directly. The reason for the lack of references to Christ and scripture, is to show the state where one is...

    St John of the Cross

The River of Life REV 22:1Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a...

    St John of the Cross

Well scripture says there are few. The road is narrow. Will get back when I refresh those texts. Got a zoom shortly.

    St John of the Cross

Then why did Christ have to die if we can save ourselves? We are judged by what we do but the main point is in doing it, whether we are in Christ or not.

    St John of the Cross

It was achieved for us on the cross if we join Him there in the crucifixion of our flesh.

    St John of the Cross

What I meant is, that we are not gradually sanctified as we go along which is where most are wrong. Christ gained it on the cross - our sanctification through faith and not works. Forgiveness is as epi said, mercy is not dependent on what we do. I do not accept the usual view of atonement. He...

Please disagree as much as you want. I welcome the chance to rethink things. God does have mercy yes but the requisists for salvation are clear in scripture and it says that it is only through Christ's baptism of the Spirit that saves.

    St John of the Cross

Yes I agree. I mean that when it is believed, it can come into force. Believing in His sacrifice is the faith that is needed. We can do nothing but have faith.

Where did that come from?? haha

Sorry did not mean that people do not need a director. They do, preferably, but once they are in 'the promised land' they will talk to others now and again, probably for a consensus but that weekly guidance is not needed anymore. They got to the place of direction. Yes you can find them in...

    St John of the Cross

Forgot to name the other stages, so: Illumination which comes usually duriung a crisis when one has the full picture of ones sins revealed and how they have let Christ down after all He did for them. Union or the other names when one enters into the state where Adam was supposed to achieve, or...

    St John of the Cross

@MostlyConfused I have started this thread as you mentioned SJOTC on @epis thread and I don't want to fill it up with my views as I disagree with him on a couple of points. That's OK as the Lord does not give His whole theology to one person. So long as the main points for salvation are there...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

In A Description of the Qualifications Necessary to A Gospel Minister by Samuel Bownas 1750, (p6-7)he writes: "For no man can be righteous and wicked at one time; we must first be brought out of the bondage of corruption under spiritual Pharoh and Egypt, into the wilderness, before we can offer...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

It is assumed that Cornelius was not a Christian because he was a soldier but I have read that early believers had an issue with those type for not leaving their non Christian work.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

There is unity when the perfect are together and know that each one has been given various illumination of the minor points. God created man to work as a team - a perfect one.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

I read that as Cornelius was converted. Just because he was a soldier does not mean he wasn't. I read somewhere that there were objections about that happening to some. They did not leave their jobs. Then he heard the full gospel calling him into theosis or ES and responded.

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

We bring a mind set and pressupositions to the scriptures which vastly affects interpretation, but we do not see it and insist that our understanding is the true one hence thousands of Protestant denominations. It is only when we develop another mind set that we see it. Those that convert from...

Reviving Biblical Christianity (The Way) Part 2

@bdavidc David, I truly understand where you are coming from, so I will try as much as I can here. I was an earnest Bible thumping evangelical for a long time and I mean 50 odd years and fully accepted the teaching, though I went from a fully fledged Cavinist for some of that time. I...
