We are no longer immediately under theocratic law, under which all manner of sin was punishable by death. The "Sabbath violation must be punished by death" argument is bogus. .

How did we get from "How did Jesus keep from sinning?" to: "Yes, He did sin." . Jesus was "born under the law." Breaking the Sabbath would have been a sin for Him. He knew no sin. He condemned it in the flesh. Therefore, He did not break the Sabbath. He never admitted to doing so; he...

I don't know, Brother. Aren't you forgetting about the Lavender Scare of '53? And that's just off the top of my head. Naturally, you're going to see backlash in proportion to offense. But I think it wouldn't take much effort to show that in places where religion is closely tied to protecting...

Aww, come on, hang around and schmooze a little! :woot: ,

It's been demonstrated that you don't differentiate between disagreement and character attack. You're making people miserable to the point that they want to find another place to discuss their faith. Yet you deny and deflect at your own risk. Appeals to civil discourse fall on completely deaf...

I didn't mean to say that it had devolved into an argument yet. Hence the lol. Bye now? .

I can see you have the right attitude about politics, at least, about the dangers of aligning with parties. That's a refreshing change. I confess I don't pray enough for our leaders. It's hard to sympathize with them when their bungling is so magnified by the press. But I suppose we have to look...

I used to say that if the Republicans ever actually did something about abortion on demand, I would finally have some criteria for voting and, then, when it miraculously happened... It was scary Trump who did that something. Relinquishing the control of the issue to the states was the best we...

What's interesting is that some of the rules they made up contained good preparation practices, but only if they were on a voluntary, individual basis. But they managed to make some otherwise good ideas part of a checklist of curses. .

Lutheran's are Calvinists... Do you just determine what's true and then say the opposite? I remember seeing a whole world that operated that way in a comic book when I was a kid. .

Well, being made sin for us was a great burden, because He was tempted in all points like as we are, and temptation cannot exist where there is no possibility of sin. He was also tempted with greater intensity than we, since so much was riding on His success or failure. It's impossible for most...

I'm not joking around, and I find no humor in it, so you're not joking around "with" anyone. .

Who gave the Ten Commandments? .

I don't know who "The same One" is. Who's dodging now? .

Who gave the Ten Commandments? .

For six days I have the rest (not work) of "apples." But the seventh day is the Sabbath day. On it, I have the rest (not work) of both "apples" and "oranges." This is not a doctrinal disagreement at all. It is idle words of evil speaking. But I say to you that for every idle word men may...

The answer.... Not any more so, more, or less, than if the question was about any of the other 9 commandments. Jesus knew how to answer these stupid questions. I learned from the best. "Render to Caesar..." "Persuasion," now, is it? We're still not robots, Big Boy. .
