No. No. The commandment is "REMEMBER the Sabbath day to keep it holy." And the infinitive-absolute "REMEMBER" (זָכ֛וֹר֩) precedes, both in order and operativity, the infinitive-construct verbal phrase "to keep it holy" (לְקַדְּשֽׁ֗וֹ‪‬). Well, the best reason to do what God says to do is...

Your reply is so graciously stated that I hate to differ, but I see nothing within the text you cite restricting new covenant law to two simple commands. It asks and answers the question as to which are the greatest commandments, to which Christ replies with two we all know so well. Alas and...

That's remarkable. I'm fascinated with independent Bible study. .

His brain shrunk! And his TV got smarter and lost weight! .

Very kind of you to respond so cheerfully. Did you come to that conclusion on your own from personal Bible study? .

I actually had to Google "seeker friendly" because I don't learn any more neo-Christian nonsense jargon than I absolutely have to. You're out to lunch, Amigo. And you don't know anything about the Adventist church. Please tell me about something I believed before that I no longer believe, to...

Respectfully, is there some significance to the term "Immanuel-Jesus" for you? Google is giving me nothing on that. :) .

I detest deconstructionism. And I'm afraid you don't know me at all, my friend. .

Not everyone has been coddled all their lives. Some have had their brows beaten very thoroughly. I was a prime candidate for the rebellion that often results from overbearing authority. In fact, I took a short stroll down that path. I'm glad someone risked getting a little dirty to pull me...

I remember reading Haskell's "The Cross And Its Shadow' many years ago and being moved by his short but rich observation that the meal offering was, in one sense, much more appropriate for the sin offering than something of more earthly value because it more clearly represented just what we have...

A thoughtful response, Aunty, and well to be commended, especially considering some of the drivel we've been flooded with lately here on CyB. But I'd differ slightly in that I see the problem being addressed was, more specifically, the demands being placed on the Gentile converts by Jewish...

I think we all need a nap - lol. .

Actually, Jesus didn't cite the 3rd commandment, either, but nobody cares about that. .

My dad was raised Southern Baptist and while he was taught eternal security, he said that the preachers always made him feel like he hadn't been sincere in his repentance when he first believed and so he was constantly tormented as to whether he should doubt his faith and be reconciled and...

Oh, Ron, not you. .

:watching and waiting: .

SS, why are you tormenting common folk with critical theory? Is that really what you're here for? .

You win the "I know you are but what am I" contest. Congratulations. .

That's so clever! "Prove it! (incredulity) "That's not fair!" (appeal to equity) "I know you are but what am I?!! (projection) These are the expressions of the childish objector. They're not hard to spot. .
