If you make a specific OP and can handle initial disagreement without being dragged down a tangent argument, the rules could be employed against those trying to hijack the thread and send it in another direction. The key is not getting dragged into those side arguements, which makes the thread...

There is no such rule, its a discussion forum. With the only exception being the prayer forum where we dont want discussion but we want prayers. You could use the blog, it's not as interactive.
