Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Exactly. Since John died at the beginning of the second century, no one else has done through the spirit of Jehovah, any mighty work like the ones the apostles did. Where did modern "miracle artists" get the spirit to do these works if no one have been transferring those powers since John's...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

I read there about "hearing God's voice" and "being able to literally converse with God" that you "received of the gifts of the Spirit (...) hearing God's voice". Anyone else listen that voice with you? Are you sure is God talking to you? I remember a few servants of God asking some proof that...

Yeah, good night ... and learn how to dance. Chkl:

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

So, you think I am gonna believe that YOU (whoever you call WE) do powerful works just because you say so, right? hmmx1:

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

I don't see any of YOU (whatever you mean with WE) doing those works. You quoting a biblical passage (that is not even in most modern translations) does not prove that YOU (those you call WE) do anything of what it says. Are you playing some kind of game? Is there any modern Christian...

    Can you?

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Not my intention. Pointing out exactly what I said: nobody can apply to himself everything that Jesus said to the apostles ... it is not only being naive but also daring. No person today performs the miracles of the prophets, nor those of the apostles, much less those of Jesus. It is obvious...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

That is a very sad mistake many believers make today: thinking that every single thing said to first century Christians apply to themselves. :( Have you read what the evil spirit said to those Jews (sons of a Jewish high riest) when they try to cast out demons using the name of the Lord Jesus...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

That was the first manifestation of the anointing of the apostles and first followers of Jesus (120 in total, all of them reunited in the same place). After they move from that place, Peter gave his discourse and the rest of them start talking with people of diferent territories, so it was not...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Can you? You were not present when Christians in Jerusalem received the holy spirit directly from Jesus after he received it from the Father ... Luke 24:49 And, look! I am sending forth upon YOU that which is promised by my Father. YOU, though, abide in the city until YOU become clothed...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Yeap, it is dificult to deduce ... but there was something particular in the case of anointed Christians. Can you think on what I am talking about?

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Do you think that God cannot make Satan and his demons cease to exist, even though He was the one who created them before they became what they are?

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Do you think that when the holy spirit was at work in ancient Israelite men like Samson, Gideon, Saul, David and others, the process was identical to when first century Christians were anointed?

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Do you think that you dancing was the spirit of God making you dance? Do you have any biblical reference to a first-century Christian (in some biblical story) who, upon being anointed with holy spirit, began to dance?

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Wrong. It was the eunuch who went to Jerusalem to worship. Acts 8:27 With that he got up and went, and look! an E·thi·oʹpi·an eunuch, a man who had authority under Can·daʹce, queen of the E·thi·oʹpi·ans, and who was in charge of all her treasure. He had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28 and he...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

No. The Eunuch was a proselyte-Jew, i.e. a foreigner converted to Judaism. He was in Jerusalem to celebrate the Jewish Passover, and surely he was aware of many of the religious teachings and practices of the Jews.

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Modern speaking languages is not any "spiritual gift". I speak English, Spanish, Italian, ... but I had to study them. Speaking gibberish isn't a "spiritual gift" either ... babies do that too. :D No one person today can speak a real human language without studying it first and that's why those...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

In the post#252 there is a very pertinent biblical quote regarding the spiritual gifts that were only given to the original Christians, the apostles and elders, probably exclusively to the 120 who were gathered in Jerusalem and a few who received them by laying on of hands) in the first...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Religionists who act as if they have the same spiritual gifts as the first century do not represent the true manifestation of God's holy spirit. Their supposedly spiritual displays are histrionic and overwhelming to look at, yelling abounds in those religious activities. The people who are...

Tongues ( 'sign' gifts ) did/did not cease?

Paul wrote a long passage of his 1 Corinthians letter to the topic of the tongues. He clarifies many issues regarding why this gift existed and why we know that it is not the glossolalia practiced by some religious. (1 Corinthians 14:2-19) 2 For the one who speaks in a tongue speaks, not to...
