Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

Another long-winded post that completely ignores the question I asked. Was it the baby who decided to be circumcised - or was it the parents obeying God?

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

That was quite a diatribe that can ben answered very simply. As I stated before - it is the faith of the parents that guides that infant through childhood until he can make his own decisions about his faith. The obedience begins with the parents, who teach that child obedience. This is the...

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

And YOU might want to show me where the Scriptures state that the Scriptures are out SOLE Authority. While you’re at it – why don’t you also show me where the Bible lists all of the Books that belon in it. It took the God-given Authority of the Catholic Church to declare the Canon of Scripture...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

    No - Jesus IS God is Biblical trith. (Isaiah 7:14, Isaiah 9:6, Matt4:7, John 1:1, John 1:3, Joh. n 8:58, John 10:30, John 15:9, John 20:28, Acts 5:3-4, 2 Cor. 4:4, Phil. 2:6, Col. 2:9, 1 Tim. 3:16, Heb. 1:8, Titus 2:13)

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

WHY, do you suppose Jesu went through the temptation in the desert?
  6. BreadOfLife

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

Through the faith of the Parents. A "Covenant" is a agreement between 2 or more parties. How did an 8-day-old baby enter into the Covenant with God in the OT? Answer: Through the faith and obedience of his Parents. Was it the baby who decided to get circumcised, which was the requirement for...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

WRONG again. What YOU are espousing was called the “Nestorian Heresy” – and it was dealt with at the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD. It was the reason the doctrine of the Hypostatic Union had to be defined – that the Son is FULLY God and FULLY man – and these 2 natures cannot be separated. The...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

In His humanity – He absolutely could have sinned – but lived a perfect life instead. His temptation in the desert wouldn’t mean anything if He was impervious to temptation. The whole point of Jesus being human like us was to SHOW us how to love a perfect life.

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

According to the Bible - the 2nd Person of the Trinity is BOTH God and Man. According to YOUR warped theological perversions - He is not. He is a Man who was born of a human mother (Matt. 1:25). He experienced hunger (Matt. 21:8), thirst (John 19:28), temptation (Matt. 4:1), pain and suffering...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

WRONG. Jesus is FULLY God and FULLY man. He was tempted – just like everyone else.

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

First of all – I didn’t misspell anything – but thanks for the As for Infant Baptism – the Early Church Fathers appealed to Apostolic Tradition: Irenaeus He [Jesus] came to save all through himself – all, I say, who through him are reborn in God; INFANTS, AND CHILDREN, and youths, and old men...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

Jesus Christ is not only God – He is a human being. In His humanity here on earth, He fully experienced time as WE do. Peter explains that in the Heavenly realm, there is NO time was we understand it. This is difficult for some people to accept.

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

Tradition doesn’t just mean "what is transmitted" in WRITING. Paul makes is crystal-clear that the traditions he is referring to are EITHER written OR conveyed orally. And NOWHERE does he state that these Traditions are part of the written Gospel – or that the Word of God is conveyed solely in...

    Tradition Versus Scripture

    Thanks for that non-response . . .

    Tradition Versus Scripture

I don’t engage in either – so your point is moot. As I stated before – the numerous perversions of the NWT it’s a topic for another thread because it IS a rabbit-hole . . . Guess again: John 20:28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my GOD!” The Father sends the Soon (John 3:16). The Holy Spirit...

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

No. What we have here in Jerome’s text is an example of Tradition (Baptism) and tradition (milk & honey). One is doctrinal and is binding on the believer. The other is a custom and is not binding. Paul clearly taught that Tradition is just as binding on the believer as Scripture (2 Thess. 2:15).

Doctors of the Church: St. Athanasius of Alexandria

Soooo – did the babies who were circumcised in the OT decide to be circumcised?? They entered into the Covenant with God through circumcision (Genesis 17:10-12). You accept the idea of a baby having his foreskin cut off to enter into the Covenant with God – but you reject a baby being Baptized...

Do you believe that ALL babies that die go to Heaven or only "the elect"?

What “other”?? Peter’s use of the words “Like” or “As” is hyperbole to illustrate that God is NOT bound by time as we know it.

    Tradition Versus Scripture

WRONG again. J.N.D. Kelly was a Protestant – whose doctrines I disagreed with. I don’t disagree with him on everything. And I certainly agree with him onn that which is historically-provable.
