    Soul Sleep yes or no?

Oh, and yes, he would. Wouldn't you, Brother @Johann? :waves:

    Soul Sleep yes or no?

I think if I could willingly pray for those who curse, persecute, and despitefully use me, I ought to be able to be able to call someone with whom I have so much more in common "Brother." :)

    Soul Sleep yes or no?

Wouldn't that apply to any thread that featured a poll, and not just a "soul sleep" thread?

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

This is turning into an argument, so I'm going to add one more thing, and give you the last word. 1Corinthians 1:11-15 11 For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now this I say, that every one of...

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

Trouble is, Peter didn't write Acts or Galatians, and I'm afraid of the idea that some Scripture is more spiritual than others (2 Timothy 3:16, you know). Obviously, all are free to believe as their consciences dictate. :)

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

What's the point of Peter singling him out as hard to understand if only "unsaved" or "natural" folks are likely to have trouble? Why didn't he just go with "all the scriptures" instead of Paul, "as with the other?" I must be merely "natural." (no surprise to some, no doubt)

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

He allows for -zero- disagreement. But he writes things hard to be understood. I've found that most folks can't seem to acknowledge this paradox to which Peter testifies under inspiration.

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

I read one post that gave a list of essentials that included the necessity for believing that Jesus is God as a qualification for calling another a "brother in Christ." This gave me pause for some self-examination because, while I believe that Christ and His Father are One, I know some very...

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

Good to see you again, Ron. :waves: I'm doing fine and I hope and trust you are, too. I like what you say here. I'm just not sure I can trust that God will concur with what I like. There are, after all, deeper realities involved in what you've said, which I'm sure is not news to you. One...

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

What if I was living in the French Alps in 1211AD and the only thing I had was a few pages of 1st John that the Vaudois had sewn into their garments and smuggled in for me? I wonder how Jesus managed to make the Emmaus road travelers' hearts burn within them without the book of Romans. Not that...

My Five Big Issues with Seventh Day Adventism

No takers? I would answer but, unfortunately, your 5 big issues quickly turned into 7 broad points before you even got to the 2nd big issue. I can see why you have trouble over at CF. I'd love to chat if you could just focus a little. :)

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

Sounds like a zero-sum equation. Is there an agape go/no-go gage in the Bible I can use to measure myself? That would be great!

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

I'm not seeing how the conclusion follows the assumption here.

Is The Bible Reliable? Cold-Case Investigation That It Is

So "eternally" is just applied and assumed. Not that I have a problem with eternity. I just wondered what it had to do with being connected to the Truth or truth—or whatever it is we're talking about. The eternity that Christ speaks of in John 17 refers to eternity past that He had with the...

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

Are you really dependent on the action or inaction of others to keep you from boredom?

Is The Bible Reliable? Cold-Case Investigation That It Is

    What does "eternally connected" mean?

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

It is hard for many of us to distinguish between what needs to be shared with others and what needs to be worked out between our own souls and God. It would be very handy if there were detailed, separate "mote-splinter" and "beam" lists. Unfortunately (or fortunately, truth be told), folks...

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

So would you say that unity of the faith to the exclusion of secondary doctrines is a matter of primary doctrine?

Unity of the faith - at what cost?

I hate to post big nothings, but this OP deserves a more-thoughtful-than-usual response from me, especially since I basically asked for this thread to be started. But I have several very pressing matters to resolve that I can hopefully wrap up today and I'm not much of a multitasker, so I'll...
