    2 Thessalonians 1:8

John 3:5 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God." Jesus speaks of one new birth that consists of two elements: 1) water 2) Spirit Later in John 3:23-24 we can easily see that Jesus means by...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

What verse can you cite to back this statement up?

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Water baptism is a "form" (Romans 6:1-17) of the gospel (a form of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ) and that form (water baptism) must be obeyed if one is not to be lost in flaming fire (2 Thessalonains 1:8).

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Your "personal testimony" does not fit what the Bible says as to how one is saved. You CLAIM salvation is "not in our obedience". Can you show me from the NT gospel of a person who continued to be impenitently disobedient to the will of God but was saved anyway?

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

What verse do you have to support this statement?

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

There is no verse that limits water baptism to just fleshly Israel. Acts 15:11 Peter says Jews and Gentiles are saved in a "like manner" way and that like manner way was water baptism being commanded to both Jew (Acts 2:38) and Gentile (Acts 10:47-48).

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

You say baptism "re-enacts the Gospel" From my thread on 2 Thessalonians 1:8 the Gospel must be obeyed if one does not want to be lost in flaming fire. And one obeys the gospel when one is water baptized where the old man of sin DIES, is BURIED in a watery grave then RESURRECTED up from that...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

Romans 10:10 KJV "For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10 NIV "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." There is an obvious...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

Luke 24:47 is Luke's account of the great commission...."And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem." This was carried out in Acts 2: --Luke said it would begin in Jerusalem>>>> Peter was in Jerusalem --Luke said...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

From the OP of this thread, the question is about the Greek word "eis" as it is used in Acts 2:38 and whether the meaning of "eis" in this verse is looking forward (for remission of sins) or backwards (because sins have already been remitted). The Greek word "eis" does not appear in Acts 2:41.

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

You have to remember 1 John 1:7 is spoken to those who are ALREADY Christians, those who ALREADY have been baptized. The washing away of sins BEGINS at the point of water baptism and CONTINUES to wash away all sins as long as the Christian conditionally walks in the light.

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

Because baptism is the means God has chosen to save men. Again from Rom 10:10 belief and confession are UNTO salvation, they lead one towards salvation but it is not until one is water baptized that one is saved. In Mark 16:16 Jesus made belief a prerequisite to being baptized so the...

BAPTISM SAVES, FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS"

Acts 2:38---- repent+++++++++++++++be baptized>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>for remission of sins Acts 3:19---- repent++++++++++++++be converted>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>sin blotted out Since there is one way to be saved and the Bible does not contradict itself then both verses say the exact same thing, Hence being...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

I have been consistent on all I have posted. It is those that reject the necessity of water baptism that are rejecting "obeying the gospel of Christ (2 Thess 1:8 per 1 Cor 15:3-4)" that keeps one out of flaming fire. There is a death burial and resurrection that takes place when one is water...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

They lived under the OT law that did not have water baptism in the name of the Lord for remission of sins hence those that live before Acts 2:38 are not accountable to it like we today are who live after it. The flaming fire in 2 Thess 1:8 refers to being lost eternally in hell fire and has...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

Baptism with the HS had nothing to do with the personal salvation of Cornelius. --The Jews in Acts 2 were not baptized the HS. --Nowhere does the Bible say baptism with the HS saves/remits sins. --Nowhere does the Bible say that a death burial and resurrection (obeying the gospel of Christ...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

John is showing the difference between the spiritual birth (born again) and the physical birth. Of curse the new birth has nothing to do with the physical birth but one is born again when one is water baptized, John 3:5. Later in the context we see what Jesus meant by being born of water when...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

I'm not sure what you are saying here. The implication of 2 Thess 1:8 is that one must obey the gospel of Christ to be saved (not burn in flaming fire) hence a faithful obedience to the Lord's will is necessary to be saved.

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

2 Thess 1:8 "in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:" It is not just possible but it is a certainty that those who know not God and obey not the gospel of Christ will be lost in flaming fire. So the...

    2 Thessalonians 1:8

After the Jews were saved in Acts 2 and Gentiles in Acts 10 the Apostles meet in Jerusalem to discuss if the Gentiles have to be circumised to be saved, Acts 15:1-2. Of course they determined the Gentiles do not have to be circumcised to be saved and during this meeting Peter says in Acts 15:11...
