What is the Kingdom of God?

Methinks you misunderstand me. Jesus overcame his last temptation, I believe, prior to going to the cross to be crucified. I see it as being here after the third: "as thou willt": Mt 26:39 And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible...

    Endure to the end?

How many times must we do it over again? If we have messed up and need to go back and repeat a thing or correct a previously corrected way one more time, Let us thank God that He in His mercy has forgiven us one more time. What is the limit for us? Unless we are complete reprobates the limit...

Was Bible Possession banned by the Catholic Church

That was not so where I attended. I had two classes in Philosophy [about 1966-1967 in California] but they were both electives [my choice]. They helped me to think about things. Of course, at the time, I was not serving God.

What is the Kingdom of God?

My mistake on my reply which was to one of @Episkopos posts. The "Even so" applied to what he posted

What is the Kingdom of God?

Even so... Jas 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

What is the Kingdom of God?

I believe that anyone still subject to temptations has not yet been crucified. He may be on the cross, but he is not dead yet to all... How much dying is required? 1co 15:31 I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

What is the Kingdom of God?

You say that you have been crucified with Christ, but are we like Jesus "no longer in this world? Joh 17:11 And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we...

What is the Kingdom of God?

Are we still tempted by anything at all in the world? 1jo 2:16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. Are we still in the world of temptation?

What is the Kingdom of God?

And Paul admonishes us thusly: 1th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit. The Holy Spirit in us would work to kill those things remaining including the temptations, which when followed lead us into sin. If we are regularly quenching that Spirit within us, we will find ourselves moving toward the ways...

What is the Kingdom of God?

As the obstacles between us and God are overcome [if they are overcome] is not the old man decreased and hopefully finally killed? When he is truly finally and completely dead, then with or like Jesus, we are no longer tempted to sin and our Head is always Jesus. The Baptist was great according...

What is the Kingdom of God?

Is it not the old man who is tempted? If things still tempt us: "the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life," [from I John 2:16] is not the old man still trying to regain the dominion he had in us before we met Jesus?

What is the Kingdom of God?

Yes... It is the me of me, that carnal old man who must decrease, while it is the new man of me who must increase. This needs to continues until when? Until there is no more temptation to sin remaining within. Did not Jesus reach that place? Was he not speaking of it here? Joh 17:11 And now I...

What is the Kingdom of God?

Too many it seems believe because they have something that they have it all. At the same time so many would deny the possibility that a man may become sinless or that a man may overcome, as Jesus did, before that man runs out of time. Who can do those things? None of us without His help, which...

What is the Kingdom of God?

Aye, "much is given, MORE {much] is required." That means me, the one spoiled as a WASP... who is also born again [from above]. Help us to humble ourselves, dear Lord!

Jesus Came to Bring Division, Not Peace

Look to Jesus today dear Sister in Christ. All of these disagreements may indeed come to naught for you or for me, or worse, if we are not simply content with what God has given us. Should we be asking Him for more? Of the right things certainly, but... keep always the first things according to...

Jesus Came to Bring Division, Not Peace

It still comes down to today in all matters. Tomorrow, tribulation or no tribulation, pre or post, may never come for me [each of us being "me"]. Am I ready now to meet my Master or am I not? Am I being led by the Holy Spirit or am I not?

A Great Light has shined in the Darkness but the Darkness comprehended it not:

Very well considering my 80 years. This last week I had another immunotherapy treatment. Only two more and I will be done. I will have another PET scan following that to make sure there is still no cancer. With that my eyes improving and I will soon be able to drive again. Give God the glory!

    The Case for Eternal Security

What do people, who have met Jesus, have which is more or better than what Adam and Eve had in the garden before they disobeyed God? What I see is people being given the chance to choose for themselves, life or death, even as Adam and Eve had that choice. This was so for people in the OT as well...

A Great Light has shined in the Darkness but the Darkness comprehended it not:

Amen! Our dear old friend, byrrd was so often on the spot... Consider then that after God had rebuked the pair, He did not leave them with their man-made fig leaf coverings: Ge 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
