Indeed, Moses was unable to see the face of God, but Paul tells us that we will see His face. The seeking is a worthwhile effort.

Nothing wrong with seeking His face. God told David to seek it [Ps 27:8]. Paul wrote about seeing through a glass darkly now but anticipated a face-to-face vision [I Cor 13:12].

Silence may certainly be golden. Consider: Pr 17:27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Pr 17:28 Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.

But sometimes the person requesting prayer needs to be encouraged by people. God certainly already knows the request, but people, even believers, sometimes just want to "hear" a human voice, because they are not [or believe they are not] hearing from God.
