How to bless and be blessed on forums?

    I often fail miserably. :(

    Anti-reformers month

@theefaith Reverend Tucker and Dr. Breen are on the same team, Andy!!! Am I gettin' through to you, fella? lol

Unfortunately, with regard to perfection, churches also involve erring humans. I think this is irrefutable. The Old Testament church was so faulty that it was enslaved by Babylon, Ange. :)

    Anti-reformers month

@theefaith Maybe we should all get us a bottle of pop and cooooool off. Whaddye reckon?

    Anti-reformers month

The only obvious answer would have to be that the church had become deformed, wouldn't it, Ange? In all sincerity--that is. :)

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

Right? Otherwise, the Bible wouldn't say things like "law contained in ordinances."

I have to say, though: "...no indication..."--unbelievable

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

You presuppose things that are foreign to me. I think we've reached an impasse in basic theology and orthodoxy regarding the law. Further discussion is only likely to inflame division. And I'm not interested in an exercise in stamina in the pursuit of winning an argument. I'm trying to cut down...

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

I think a few threads need to be opened. Most, if not all, of the fanciful ideas circulated in modern Christianity were nowhere to be found 100 years ago, and I have a hard time believing that the 20th century brought about all the reform that was required to correct the erroneous first 19...

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

Everyone who is aggressive in debating "states the facts." The origin of the term "Decalogue" is of no consequence. I use it as a means of not having to use the term "ten commandments" incessantly. I dislike redundancy in writing. To assume, in this context, that the term "Decalogue" means...

You equate the law of God in the Decalogue with the "613," which leads to convoluted thought and conclusions. Is that wise? Or even on-topic?

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

You could point to 1000 conditions that led to Calvary and call them "essential." Is that wise?

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

Welcome to the forum! It is popular today for Christians to teach that the ten commandments are no longer the law of God for a Christian, but just a few decades ago it was not so. Unfortunately, the popularity of this doctrine has proliferated to the point that it is almost universal. The Bible...

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

But the Good News is not that Christ is God Almighty (regardless of one's position on or understanding of the Nature of Christ), but that while we were yet sinners, God commended His love toward us by giving His only begotten Son to die for us. Is this not so?
  15. BarneyFife

Summarize what the good news is, find a scripture.

Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. :)

What's the weather like where you are?

We're expecting a light dusting of the white stuff tonight, here in Central Pennsylvania. :) And God is so good!!!
  17. BarneyFife

Silly question, but a thought provoking one:

I've witnessed a type of communication breakdown in these threads created from obsession with unitarianism that I've seen nowhere else. It's quite startling. Things are being recalled that simply never happened. Scripture is being extraordinarily twisted and abused. Things are being denied that...

Silly question, but a thought provoking one:

Careful--yes. Yet not altogether dismissive, eh? :)
  19. BarneyFife

Silly question, but a thought provoking one:

Oh, I simply can't resist this. Is it actually your contention that all Hebrew and Greek words should be rendered exactly the same way in all cases?
  20. BarneyFife

Silly question, but a thought provoking one:

Again, no third option ("I'm finite and I don't know") and, again, it must be nice to have the gift of mind-reading. Unless you believe somehow indeed your polling process was very scientific. I have never heard anyone from any faith insist that Christ was a "spirit being" before His...
