    Electing New Pope

Jesus Christ is the Head of His true church and leads it by HIS SPIRIT.....there is no anarchy where HE is allowed the liberty to lead. But you would need to first of all HAVE the Spirit to understand and experience how He leads by His Spirit. We are well warned by the story of the Israelites...

    Electing New Pope

Goodness me, what a long and complicated thought process just to point out a discrepancy to someone between the bible and what they're saying. Haven't you read where there is to be NO RESPECT OF PERSONS in the church? Because GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS. And there are not supposed to be...

    Electing New Pope

Nay friend, it has been as good as said on this site and is basic Catholic teaching that people are magically converted through baptism, when they are baptized as infants. And that they magically are filled with the Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Confirmation. If this were actually true...

    Electing New Pope

Not proof....you're only bringing a carnal minded interpretation and vision of those verses, not seeing/understanding with the mind of Christ. Carnal mind is ENMITY against God.

    Electing New Pope

No it sure isn't rocket science....that's what gets people into trouble. It takes the Holy Spirit and mind of Christ to understand the SIMPLICITY OF CHRIST, and not to depart from it.

    Electing New Pope

We do not hate Catholics, just the institution of the Catholic church and it's dogmas. I believe the scriptures because when I came to faith in Christ miraculously back in 1986, the Holy Spirit drew me to read and love them as well as giving me the ability to understand them. If only that were...

    Electing New Pope

On the subject of baptism, if Catholics are saved by infant baptism and receive the Holy Spirit through another ritual when children, then why are their churches unfortunately so DEAD? No Spirit, no life. Their baptisms and confirmations are not doing the job they claim. They are not imparting...

    Once OSAS Always OSAS

Me too. God is always working among His people and some things are going to change over time as we grow. But harsh attitudes on forums can make it difficult to hear and receive truth, much less admit to anything. We put stumbling blocks in each other's way all too often instead of giving the...

    Once OSAS Always OSAS

How often does anyone change their mind about anything in debates on forums? Don't think I've ever seen it. Only the Holy Spirit can change hearts and lead us into all truth, and He is gentle and meek and usually works out of sight if or when flesh gets out of the way.

Is the Catholic church now trying to take credit for God-breathed letters and manuscripts written by faithful men of God under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? Because that's the only reason we read them....because they are God's word, regardless of who decided to collect them together in...

22 major reasons to abandon the Premil doctrine

Coming in to this discussion many pages later, but I agree. I used to believe in a future thousand year reign. It's already been said, but this is one problem I now have with dispensationalism...that the new testament plainly teaches the end of the world and judgment is at Christ's coming...

Is Jesus the End of the Law?

I'm not saying Jesus "reasons" with the Father, but I believe His advocacy on our behalf is on thiswise: Heb 5:1-2 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the...

afraid holy spirit will never come back to me

Nice to meet you too! No I didn't at all mean to imply that the poster was. I probably shouldn't have extended my comment so far in the first place...don't want to go off topic with her thread.

afraid holy spirit will never come back to me

Yes, here's some: Ephesians 4:30 (see the context there of admonishing and exhorting us not to sin...not that I believe this means He leaves a person for good necessarily, but that He may hide His face for a while....as you mentioned we might have to fast from His presence for a bit) Hebrews...

afraid holy spirit will never come back to me

Amen. Sometimes if we have grieved Him, He may withdraw for a while as a consequence in order that we learn not to grieve Him...its a discipline for our good. But also I believe there are times when He withdraws to "know what is in our heart" like He did with Hezekiah....inner housecleaning...

afraid holy spirit will never come back to me

"Confess your sins to God and He will be faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you of all unrighteous." The Lord is gracious and forgiving....so says His word. As long as we're sincere. It's not likely He will cast a soul off for one offense, though we might feel miserable like that...

Is Jesus the End of the Law?

I sure do agree with this, amen. But don't want to throw out the scriptures that warn us of danger either. I don't think they are meant to threaten us with the way a hostile man threatens others, but really to take it to heart and keep upon our hearts so that it will help to keep us. The...

Is Jesus the End of the Law?

I agree there's a right and wrong way to understand scripture, as well as a right and wrong way to minister it. Falling from grace into law and legalism is a real danger, as is the opposite side of things. I dont' think Hebrews was really written to new believers though...."by this time ye...

    homosexuality and ethics

As we know sinners sin because they are lost. Until they come to Christ they aren't going to change...especially when it comes to bondages, they are really unable to change without the Lord. It's our job to preach the good news of forgiveness and salvation and help to draw them to...
