The curious case of John 5:4

OK So what you're saying is: ONLY contradictions regarding salvific issues would be important to you.....? But you originally said any contradiction would be a flaw.... Which is it?

The curious case of John 5:4

Will read it later on....dinner time over here. Or at least, the preparation of it.... Sounds interesting....

The curious case of John 5:4

OK, but I don't know how to get around that. Of course the Jews were monotheistic. Of course Jesus was Jewish. He believed in montheism. So do Christians! There is only One God.... What about Gregory??

The curious case of John 5:4

No. He's not one of the ECFs that I know.

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

I'm not either Taken. Because children cannot and will not be judged. I gave you enough verses that pertain EXACTLY to this. And Psalm 51:5 is taken so out of context that I tire to repeat it anymore. Look into it...it doesn't mean a person was born into sin.

The curious case of John 5:4

Well, I'm a bit confused, but I think we're getting into areas that cannot be discussed. No problem for me my friend.

The curious case of John 5:4

If you read my post carefully, you'll find that it DOES NOT state that they are not saved. Just that to be defined as a Christian, a person must accept the definition of Christian. It's not legalistic. If you want to work for Google, they have a set standard for what they expect from a...

The curious case of John 5:4

Who got to Jesus' tomb first? Was there a census in Jerusalem to which Joseph and Mary had to travel? Was Jesus born in a manger? When did the Magi show up? Was Jesus silent on the cross or did He say some things? There's just too much. If you want a link, I'll post it, but maybe not here.

The curious case of John 5:4

They understood pretty quickly, within a couple of decades, that they were no longer welcomed into the synagogues. The Apostolic Fathers understood that Jesus was God....I say this to confirm that the early church fought many heresies, one of the main heresies was arianism, which was handled at...

    Islamic Approach to Textual Criticism

Do you agree with the above or what you posted in no. 38? It's 2 totally different ideas!

The curious case of John 5:4

Are you saying NT Wright does not believe in the Nicene Creed??
  12. GodsGrace

The curious case of John 5:4

Not sure who you're talking about. The Jews I've known that accepted Jesus as the Messiah accept the Nicene Creed. Let's put it that way. If not, then they're Jewish, period. Caiaphas was a Jewish Monotheist (if you mean those at Jesus' time). Why did he rip his tunic?

The curious case of John 5:4

Hmmmm. But then He sure did say a lot of things that make no sense. And on that note,,,I think this discussion stops here.
  14. GodsGrace

    The Way/Theosis/entire sanctification.

But a theory MUST be backed by scripture in order for it to be accepted. But let me ask you this: You say God is a just God. What does Just mean?? I'll give you the answer... JUST means to give to each person what they DESERVE. How does a person that does not know what sin is DESERVE hell...

The curious case of John 5:4

As you know EG, I'm not here to damage the faith of anyone, which is why I don't "debate" beyond a few posts. I could share several contradictions, but I'm wont to....for the very reason you state. No bible burnings on my watch! But I asked you a hypothetical.... OK, you don't want to respond...

The curious case of John 5:4

HOW does a person find comfort in something they don't believe in??!! :contemplate: LOL
  17. GodsGrace

The curious case of John 5:4

Well Matthias, I must say that I'm a bit prejudiced in this regard.... I DO believe that there has to be some definition for what a Christian is. I come from a forum that allowed anyone to call themselves a Christian,,,no matter what they believed. A person could come to different understandings...

The curious case of John 5:4

EG,,,,there are contradictions even in the NT. Let's accept that this is true....I hesitate but could post even links to debates on this,,,besides the fact that I could think of some right now. OK. So we accept that it's true....there are contradictions in the NT.... WHAT would that do to...

The curious case of John 5:4

    Sure...I stated ALSO a comfort....

The curious case of John 5:4

Right. Not too many students know much about the Qu'ran...neither do I. There's just too much to know about ANYTHING.... Of course, this is true. People are not always rational or reasonable in their thinking. This is one of the reasons that it's GOOD to know what the bible teaches.... A...
