At the risk of being unduly flattering, I believe you have a higher understanding of Soteriology than some of us. The problem (if I may) is in the way we may sometimes express it. Ascribing false witness (a textbook sin) to someone who is merely having trouble understanding or communicating with...

The betrayal of America and its consequences

Absolutely brilliant. People take Paul for granted as if he were any other Bible writer. He was quite different (though not any less inspired). Peter even pointed that out, and people quite commonly ignore this completely.

@marks I didn't take what you said personally, but I understand Sister CL's position because I am quite defensive of my friends, too. If I had been upset with you, my response would have been much different than just turning the straw man accusation back at you. I like to think I basically know...

Isn't this slightly doubletalky? What does "it no longer has any say over our behaviour" even mean?

    SinSinSin

How is this not a straw man? As if those in disagreement with eternal security believe in the forgiveness of only some sins for those who will walk the streets of gold.

We'll call it passionate, then. :) You know me. I'm no fan of cheap grace. Not that I think @marks is, either. Positivity is his passion, I think. I know lots of sincere Christians in the OSAS camp who don't believe in justification without sanctification. I think false doctrine can keep folks...

Well, you couldn't have avoided it for very long; it's all throughout the Bible.

    Those who deny Eternal Security

    Are you a Calvinist, Ch?

    Those who deny Eternal Security

Then, for a Christian, I guess they're all temporary, eh?

I was once alive apart from the Law; but when the commandment came, sin became alive and I died; @justbyfaith @Waiting on him Isn't this an illustration of the letter killing? Is this bad?

If I may presume, I think that @marks is merely trying to say that even good and true things can be overdone, and often are on these types of forums.

Well said, QT. I've always been a little leery of religious specialists. I'm a general practitioner, myself. I believe there's a time and a place for specialty, but if we don't have the basics down, it's all for naught.

    A little harsh, Sister CL.

    Those who deny Eternal Security

    Highly debatable, C.

    Those who deny Eternal Security

I've never heard of a "temporary sin" before. What's that?

The betrayal of America and its consequences

I pray you will always be able to discern what is "God's way as He sees fit."

The Truth will set/make you free

Just FYI: G1659 Original: ἐλευθερόω Transliteration: eleutheroō Phonetic: el-yoo-ther-o'-o Thayer Definition: to make free set at liberty: from the dominion of sin Origin: from G1658 TDNT entry: 10:07,2 Part(s) of speech: Verb Strong's Definition: From G1658; to liberate, that is...

The betrayal of America and its consequences

I think you misread the statement.

The betrayal of America and its consequences

Everyone seems to be seeing something on the horizon. Could it be the coming of Christ in the clouds of Glory?
