culturally, fields and mills were places of activity/employment pretty much everywhere; today there'll be factories, offices, hospitals and a whole raft of places where people engage. what do you suspect might be more?

the message Jesus is conveying is that he will come when least expected. Trying to make the story walk on all fours so to speak takes the attention away from where it is intended to be.
