    Contradiction Or Paradox?

I'm afraid it doesn't help much. You had me up until the omnis and impeccability.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

I've been counseled (wisely, I believe) to be very careful about how I dwell upon the human nature of Christ.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

We are now verily entering rabbit holes that are above my pay grade.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

I'm getting the impression you don't care much for dogma. ;)

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

The law may be the law in a sense, but not all law is the same. There is such a thing as over-simplification. Punching someone in the nose isn't the same as killing millions of people. The law is the law when one keeps all of it, as Jesus did. But when it's broken there are varying degrees of...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

What I meant was: Isn't it a bit of a stretch to accuse someone of denying the deity of Christ just because they don't see eye-to-eye with you on the logistics of the Godhead? After all, how much can we really know about the intricacies of an entity that is triune? And how well do we define the...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Isn't this just a tad bit of a straw man? Honestly.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

I don't want a god whom I can understand fully. I'm glad I'm not as smart as some of the people I've come across on the Interweb. This thought has nagged me for many years. If I knew as much about God as the collective of people I've encountered within the last 20 years or so, I fear I'd have...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

    It sure is.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Never heard of such a thing.

    Revelation 17

I know it doesn't mean "do away with." Otherwise, we've got a problem with Matthew 3:15 and we've got to do away with all righteousness.

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

There is a guy over at CF.com who just parks in threads about the Sabbath and the law (never posts anywhere else) and he views the entire Bible through the lens of 2 Corinthians 3. There's only so much that can be said in defense of something without the defender becoming or seeming defensive...

    What, no John Ritenbaugh?

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

With as much honesty as I know how, I will tell you frankly, JBF, that I've heard these arguments (and many more) against the literal observance of the 4th commandment hundreds of times over the past several decades, and I sincerely do not believe for one minute that any nor all of them together...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

It means no such thing. Christ called the existing Scriptures in His time (before the 1st century church) "the law and the prophets." Do you or do you not believe that the word "law" as used in the NT (every time) means the entire OT? Give it just a little thought. No hit-and-runs, please.
  16. BarneyFife

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Very hefty, indeed. Christ and the Gospel writers seemed to have the impression that the law and/or the prophets were somehow distinct from one another. If you insist that the word "law" as used in the New Testament always means "the entire Old Testament," I'm not sure there's any basis for...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

A little above my pay grade but I like the way you present it. :)

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Not a word of Scripture here , JBF. The most earnest appeals to spiritualize the Sabbath come with no Scripture at all--only testimony of feeling. This is because there are no earnest appeals to do so in the Bible, so they must emanate from the heart. But the heart is wicked above all things...

    Contradiction Or Paradox?

Unfortunately, not a word about the Sabbath here. :)

    What's So Bad About Cussing?

It seems to be largely a matter of culture, since there are many languages that have only one word for nearly everything. I do believe that every Christian should aim to avoid the common or profane words and even thoughts. But obsession with such things likely profit nothing. Let all things be...
