You are correct in your understanding here Stephen...this verse relates the responsibility of the Church towards adherents who are widows and orphans and family members of a Church who have responsibilities of taking care of their own [widows or orphans in their family].

It does not really matter whether you believe in the Trinity or not. What truly matters is if you believe in Jesus and have received him as Lord of your life and your savior. God reveals himself to you as you get to know and understand him through his word and the Holy Spirit that Jesus sends...
