    What purpose does it serve?

Among men working in men's ways it is too often so that the squeaky wheel [the one who INSISTS on shouting] gets the oil, but within God's kingdom it is the humble servant who is elevated by God: "But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh...

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

It's kind of like that name of another forum where I have history: "True2Ourselves" Being true to ourselves in one sense may be following the lead of God in us, but in another it could be a very selfish attitude. Selfishness is where carnal man begins... but it cannot be where a man of God...

    What purpose does it serve?

Amen! "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8

Give God the glory my friend! I have found of few of those [friends that is] here, but I have also lost more than one.

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

LOL..! Well of course... Consider the words penned by Solomon: "Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts." Prov 21:2

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

It was something I copied from Wikipedia. I did not write it and would be careful about fully supporting it myself without conditions and definitions of my own. I don't like the term, "self-surrender". Our surrender and subjection as I understand it should be to God.

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

The ones striving to eliminate sinning and the attractions leading to sin would be described, I believe, as overcomers. Overcomers are allowed to partake of the Tree of Life! This would be perhaps the primary purpose of the Holy Ghost in a person's life...

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

Well I have never explored Buddhism so really knowing nothing about it I simply leave it alone. Unfortunately some people will condemn you for even suggesting it might have something good in it. I did read the Book of Mormon and associated volumes and did find some good things. How does any...

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

Thank you for the clarification... LOL... by nice do you mean "good"? Remember what Jesus said about that: "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God." Mark 10:18 So then who would the "good" guys be?

Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

I am not blaming you for looking and trying. I am simply explaining where I am. Certainly not every believer is where I am nor would I expect them to be. Don't be so quick to presume I am against you and your efforts. When some people hear many of my thoughts about the Bible they run hard...

Does it concern you that gospels were written so many years after Jesus died?

I also am not for or against science. It should always be a matter of first things first. For me, God is to be first!

is it possible to have white eyes

Copied from Wikipedia: Albinism is a congenital disorder characterized in humans by the complete or partial absence of pigment in the skin, hair and eyes. Albinism is associated with a number of vision defects, such as photophobia, nystagmus, and amblyopia. Lack of skin pigmentation makes for...

    Three Days?

Of course there is a lot of overlapping, but people who attend or belong to one assembly or denomination will have often their own set of beliefs or doctrines. A few may not be hard nosed about their pet doctrines being ATs, but a whole lot of people in my own experience are very hard nosed...

Giving others freedom to think and believe differently

I fully agree, but we are not allowed to discuss the reasons for moderators' decisions on the public forum. I had one thread completely deleted for failing to abide by that rule. Just a point of interest for anyone reading. Our mutual friend now gone and unable to return had 30,829 posts...

    Three Days?

Indeed! People presume that what man via science has decided makes the day and/or the night. Even in reading the Bible they use someone's man-made definitions instead of seeking what God message really may be. It could be different, no? But... anyone who has ever attended a service, especially a...

Is Christian mysticism a good thing?

@saintiaint I do enjoy reading some of your posts, but remember that communication is always important. You use words for which different people have in their minds already a definition. If their definition does not match exactly the one you intend for each thing you say, a lack of...
