I thank you for paying attention and admitting the possibility of your own error. Too many people too often will not openly admit the possibility that they themselves are wrong. A long time ago God showed me that I needed to improve on this. I still stumble on it at times, but God is helping...

Sometimes this making it as if it never happened is an impossibility. I hurt people more than once where this was the case. God forgave me but part of my ongoing penance is never being able to forget what I did and especially that I was unable to make it right with those people.

Very simply my words mean, "I am it" but our friend @Holy999 is saying something slightly different, I believe with his, "me it?". We should be careful in our criticisms considering that English is Not his first language. He works harder, I believe, at his English than most English speakers...

A good answer! However you say that they "must", while we both know that in fact the number of people who really press in like that using what is available is probably quite small considering the number of people who are called "Christians".

And if a person is so ensnared how can he know it and so pursue a better Way if he is also deluded?

Until death or until one us moves away from Him instead of toward Him. If we never die as Jesus worded it, will we ever be apart? Unfortunately as you have brought to our attention the pairing ups in the flesh don't work so well too often and the results can be very painful.
