The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

The Catholic Church. Do you have a reading problem??
  2. BreadOfLife

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

A doctrine is an official teaching. We agree on the official teachings of Christ's Church. There are MANY of them.

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Ummmm, it was a typo. If I had a dollar for every one of YOUR typos that I let slide, I'd be a rich man. Besides, Einstein - there is no Acts 9:45 . . .

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

??? We agree doctrinally. What part of that is so difficult for you to understand??

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

How do YOU know? Mary was the ONLY person in the history of the world to be impregnated by the Holy Spirit. She was spiritually AND physically indwelt. The Apostles also received the holy Spirit prior to Pentecost (John 20:21-23).

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

It is Acts 9:4-5. What's your point??
  7. BreadOfLife

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

I already did. It refers to doctrinal agreement. That still doesn't make a Melkite a Roman or Maronite or Byzantine, etc
  8. BreadOfLife

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

No - just the same unbroken line of Apostolic teaching for 2000 years. Your sect probably only goes back less than 50-100 years . . .

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

WRONG again, sparky. Try to pay attention: There are some TWENTY Liturgical rites. These include the Melkite, Maronite, Ruthenian, Alexandrian, Byzantine, Coptic, etc. They are iin FULL Communion with the Bishop of Rome – but are NOT “Roman” Catholics. They are: Melkite Catholics Maronite...

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Correct. There is no “Roman” Catholic Church. “Roman” simply refers to one of twenty Liturgical Rites that comprise the CATHOLIC Church. Pretty sure I’ve already educated you in this point . . .

Thank you for that very Catholic belief. Looks like I'm finally getting through . . .

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Once again – you keep ignoring “Kecharitomene” – even going so far as to refer to it as “that word”. I LOVE it - it’s like Kryptonite to anti-Catholics. You CANNOT get around this word because it is the crux of our argument. I completely understand your fear and hatred of this word because...

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

WRONG. Acts 9:45 absolutely shows that Christ identifies His very SELF with His Church. They are inseparable. He didn’t ask Saul – “Why are you persecuting the Church”? He said – “Why are you persecuting ME?” WRONG again. The Catholic Church is ONE – it’s monolithic. It is NOT the splintered...

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Who said anything about a “building”?? HIS Church is His Body – which He identified His very SELF with (Acts 9:4-5). He only built ONE (Matt. 16:18) -= not tens of thousands of disjointed and perpetually-splintering Protestant sects ALL teaching different doctrines. That ONE Church has been...

Is water baptism necessary for salvation?

Is there an altar of the Lord next to the obelisk in St. Pater’s Square?? Nope. YOUR problem is that you don’t understand these verses that have to go with pagan worship that the Israelites were guilty of many times over. R*E*A*D your Bible and you will see for yourself. God was constantly...

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Just as I thought. In our entire conversation – you’ve never been able to address Mary’s title of “Kecharitomene”. Ummmmm, why do you think Mary was “curious” or “confused” about the Angel’s greeting?? Do your Bible homework and study this word to fully understand its meaning. You also claim...
  17. BreadOfLife

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Yup, and God tells them through His Church . . .
  18. BreadOfLife

The Doctrine of Purgatory in Catholic Biblical Perspective

Thank you. The Catholic position ALL along is that God can and DOES make exceptions. He made an exception when He created Mary sinless Luke 1:28). He made an exception when he granted the Thief on the Cross entrance into Heaven without Water Baptism (Luke 23:43). He made exceptions by assuming...

Is water baptism necessary for salvation?

There is nothing “magical” or powerful about water. It is simply the means by which God forgives us and gives us the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then Jesus healed the Blind Man – he used mud made from dirt and saliva. Did he NEED to use mud? Was it the mud that cured the man? NO. The mud was...

Is water baptism necessary for salvation?

Precisely the kind of answer I expected from a person with your profound ignorance . . .
