Lie of the 20th century in 'christian' cultism

When mankind was limited to the power of the flesh...God asked His people to try being holy one day a week...the 7th day.. We were to limit our fleshly works and words...and make a supreme effort to STOP sinning. But we who have a new nature in Christ have put away the old man with his evil...

Lie of the 20th century in 'christian' cultism

We are to cease from the works of the flesh...which is sin.

Lie of the 20th century in 'christian' cultism

To cease from our own works...yes. When we put on Christ we do His works...speaking His words. THAT is the purpose of the Sabbath. In the past it was to be practiced one day a week...now we have a perpetual walk in the Spirit that STOPS what the flesh is doing...to do the will of God...all the time.

    Outer Darkness

Some of the other distinctions in regard to the judgment of the house of God...for honour and for shame. Cain and Abel...Ruth and Orpah...Jacob and Esau...even the 2 thieves crucified with Jesus.

    Outer Darkness

As Christians we don't hear too much about the "day of atonement". We see this as very Jewish. But not so. The day of atonement or Yom Kippour...has yet to take place. It is the judgment of the house of God. The Bema seat judgment. There are 2 groups of people...just as in the parable of the 10...

    Outer Darkness

Outer darkness cannot be hell...since fire brings light. A lake of fire would light up the sky as if it were always day. No, outer darkness is anywhere where God isn't. It is to be cast away from His presence. And this destiny is for the people of God who were not faithful...or who lived a lie.

    Jesus as a Stumblingstone

The Jews stumbled at the holiness of Jesus. They sought a righteousness that was without holiness. But we stumble at the righteousness of Jesus. We (too often) seek a holiness without righteousness.

    Jesus as a Stumblingstone

But Jesus is a stumblingstone to not just the Jews...but to us as well. It is BOTH houses that have trouble with Him. We come at the problem from a different angle. But in both cases it is due to a lack of knowledge....about who Jesus is. Just as the Jews had trouble receiving Jesus...so do...

    Jesus as a Stumblingstone

Rom. 9:30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith. 31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. 32 Wherefore...

    Jesus as a Stumblingstone

This is a crucial topic...as it regards us more than we think. Here it is helpful to get doctrinal things right in order to see this clearly. Is. 8:14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare...

    The waster:

The bible I read puts Jesus as the "Good" guy. You may need to consider which bible you are reading. Or is it...how you are reading the bible you have?

    Justification from a different angle

The challenge is always to be towards others what God is to us. Was God merciful to us? Are we as merciful towards others? So then for us the challenge of God being a justifier of the ungodly is set forth. Does it say...the ungodly Christians? Does it say only the ungodly that become...

    Eternal Security

"Stranger, post: 434762, member: 7282"]I have thought on it. Nothing you or I do contribute to God's glory whatsoever. We benefit without a doubt in our fruit and works. We add nothing to God in our fruit and our works. Just like our sin takes nothing away from God, neither does our works...

    Eternal Security

"Stranger, post: 434748, member: 7282"]We are talking about eternal security. Not rewards or proofs of our faith. All rewards and fruits and interests are for our benefit. Not God's. Do you think we contribute to God's wealth by our works? Do you think God is worried about making a...

    The waster:

Look at what you have rather than what you presently seem to be missing. We all go though ups and downs. The more we focus on the downs the longer it takes to get our eyes back fully on to the Lord. Keep rejoicing because of who He is.

    Eternal Security

Have you heard of the parable of the talents? It's in Mat. 25. What of the servant that buried (added nothing to the grace he was given) his talent? What of the reward of they who made a profit for their Master? And what of this statement? Mat. 25:27 Then you should have deposited my money...
